I see where Clavel did your original implant. It will be interesting to see how he handles a failed pump this early afterwards. Maybe just a pump and it should be covered under warranty as would the whole thing if it’s all replaced. Maybe he can help you out on the surgery part since he’s independent now! Following….

Using a VED is a good idea. There's no reason to stop as long as health and finances allow it. The odds of success are high if we go to a high-volume, dedicated implanter, given that 52% of implants seem to be still functioning in their 20th year. I'm sure these survival rates would be even higher with top surgeons. There's always the option of a malleable implant if, for example, we lose hand dexterity due to a stroke or Parkinson's disease...so there's no need to give up.

7% of implants fail by the first year
9% of implants fail within three years
13% of implants fail within five years
23% of implants fail within ten years
36% of implants fail within 15 years
48% of implants fail within 20 years

If the pump bulb goes flat it's almost certainly a leak in the tubing. Almost all titan failures are there. So replacing just the pump doesn't fix the issue. Usually in these cases they replace all the implant components, sometimes they re use the same reservoir like they did in my last revision.

Sorry to hear man..

Clavell told me, if you self paid, device insurance is for life.
You'll "only" have to pay the surgical / hospital fee which should be around 9-10k.
I could imagine Clavell might even wave his fee because it failed so early for you.

Good luck and keep us posted

Honestly they should at least cover us for 3 years on the whole care. Im already in debt I couldn't even pay off the last surgery and a new one comes up.Somehow I think the they can make better devices they just don't want to knowing it might last us forever. The whole medical system is greedy for money.

We talk about IPP lifespans all the time. Sadly they do fail. I predict that as IPP's become more common in younger men. We will get a better idea of their true lifespan. I'm willing to bet that the average lifespan of 60 year old men could easily be less than 20 years. So how are men that died before the 20 years was up accounted for?

This summer I attended my 50 year high school reunion. Smaller town that didn't have a big in & out migration. Our class was about 200 students. We've done our best to keep track of as many of us as possible. We do have a few that track deaths that are then reported on our Facebook page. We've lost over 90 members.

My point is that measuring IPP's life is twisted by the age of the men that recieve them. Or as a member has said in the past. There is a lot of perfectly good implants in our cemetery's.

Good point, gt1956.

When patients are doing well, they typically don't feel the need to see their surgeon, which results in a gap in follow-up data, particularly regarding positive long term device survival.

Even asking a surgeon is tricky and is like asking a mechanic who only sees cars needing repairs.

You mean lifetime warranty? How is this possible? Never heard about it for titan or ams, only rigicon

Just visited Dr. Clavell today he did sound very worried when I walked into the room. He opened his new chamber so he was just setting in what a charming young fellow he never fails to make you feel comfortable. He knows I’m out of pocket and he told me if my device needed a change he would charge me around $5000 because the device has a warranty for about 4 to 5 years. He did pump me up 12 Pumps. He says he can’t detect a proper leak, but he says that after a few Titan does sometimes go flat sometimes there are glitches in the pump he said to try pumping the next couple of days back-and-forth and seeing if the issue still arises. He did check the amount of liquid I have in my reservoir it was 80 cc he says there is enough liquid so he told me if the pump does have a leak. It’s gonna make a much louder noise, but since his office has been relocated and he moved his practice to just by himself, he doesn’t have my paperwork ready he is calling in my paperwork and checking how many CC he did initially put in mine, I will keep you all Updated I was lucky enough to be the first one to sit in his first chamber. I did have my girlfriend go there with me as soon as he got out of the room he did smile at her, giving her a big thumbs up so right now I just have to sit and try the next week to make sure the glitch fixes by itself or else my buddies it’s down the road to surgery, but please keep me in your prayers and wish me luck
