I saw two high volume surgeons prior to my surgery and they all immediately recommended Coloplast based on my size(girth). So I wonder if that has to do it with it as well...

what would your size be, apparently the titan would be suitable for those with peyronie's and for those with above average penises, due to its hardness of the cylinders

There used to be a video online featuring a patient implanted with AMS by Dr. Eid. From what I remember Dr. Eid selected an AMS for him due to scar tissue.

I don’t see that video online, but I found a 10-year-old video video by Dr. Eid extolling the benefits of the Coloplast Titan. It almost sounds like an infomercial, lol…

Perhaps Dr. Eid is biased, but I also know his reputation as a great surgeon for this type of procedure, so I feel I will just go along with his recommendation… I wish I could have it done sooner, I hate the anticipation and thinking about it. It took me four years to come to grips with my situation and now I’m finally ready to go ahead, but I I have other health matters to take care of before my scheduled implant on November 1….

From the snippet of Dr. Eid's blog post, his stance seems neutral to me:

"There is no appreciable difference between the life expectancies of the different manufacturers. The AMS silicone cylinders are more fragile than the Bioflex Coloplast cylinders and are the most likely cause of failure of this brand of implant. Failure occurs because of repeated bending of the deflated cylinders at the location of folds and not at the point where the cylinders are connected to the non-inflatable proximal portion. The Coloplast tubing that connects the cylinders to the pump is the Achilles heel of this penile device brand. The tubing is outsourced and not manufactured in-house, is not as good as the AMS tubing and is prone to fracture after 10 to 15 years of use.

Penile pump malfunction is rare. Both AMS MS (momentary squeeze) pump and the Coloplast “Touch” pump are extremely reliable and on rare occasion, the pumps will jam in the deflation mode and will require a very, very forceful squeeze to activate the device. This has occurred more often with the Coloplast pump than with the AMS pump. The reservoirs almost never fail. The Coloplast reservoir has a built-in lockout valve which prevents backflow into the cylinders preventing auto inflation.

Both brands of IPPs have their advantages and disadvantages. It is likely that perfection will never be achieved and also likely that improvements will continue to occur."

This quote is certainly balanced. However, when I sat down with him across his desk and he didn’t sound neutral. He thinks Coloplast is superior. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that there are many many men very happy with their AMS implants.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post it. I just finished watching it. In fact, Dr. Eid has a news article with a picture of Benno Schmidt, the newscaster who is featured in this video, in his waiting room. One thing to keep in mind, as stated at the beginning of the video is that participants were compensated for their time.

Regardless, I think it’s a good video for anyone considering an implant who is as nervous as I am because it helps to remember all the positives that await…

To Dr. Eid’s credit, very few men here would have had a bad experience with him. So even if he pushes the Coloplast out of commercial interest the end results are what matters. Anyone who has met him would know how thorough he is with everything.
42 yr old from India, Ed since many years.
Coloplast Titan 22 cms one touch pump no rte; implanted by Dr. Billy Cordon in Miami on 02-March-2023. Found Dr. Cordon on reco from Dr. Eid after he fell sick.

I believe Dr. Perito states in one of his videos of "Meet the Penis" that he uses Coloplast Titan 95% of the time.
Dr. Eid states that the Coloplast cylinders are extremely slick and slippery. This may be a factor in his bias in terms of ease of proper insertion, or removal if necessary, of the implant.
Nine months ago, when I had my implant done, as I sat at his desk during my initial consult, he did not discuss an option but rather only showed me a model of the Titan and told me that he would use a classic pump rather than the one touch pump because there were some problems he had been seeing with it. He told me that the Titan would help correct my 40° Peyronie's even before he examined me.
With him having done over 8000 implants and being one of the few surgeons that has a record of fixing botched up and more difficult surgeries, a long with the lowest infection rate, I did not question his direction.
With this said, I would like to hear exactly why he and Perito favor the Titan.
Age 70
Pills didn't work well. Trimix worked good for 3 years, then only fair for following 3 years but need a cock ring in conjunction.
