Hello all, as with so many others, I have learned so much from all of you, thank you.
My surgery is next week and my doctor says he does not send his patients home inflated. Has anyone else experienced this?
He is a great doc from Johns Hopkins; I trust him.
When I asked why he said it’s not needed.
Any thoughts?
Home from surgery NOT inflated?
Home from surgery NOT inflated?
62 years old. Prostate removed for cancer NOV 2021. Testosterone has tanked. Total ED and for icing on the cake, Peyronie’s came knocking. Pills and shots don’t work. VED and Cialis for blood flow. Appointment to discuss implant JAN 2024 at Johns Hopkins.
Re: Home from surgery NOT inflated?
I was inflated for about 12 hours, overnight after surgery. Then left deflated for 6 weeks. All is good so far.
I am 72, ED for 25 years, Viagra then Cialis, then Trimix, then Trimix + daily Cialis. AMS 700 LGX installed June 6, 2024-21cm + 3 RTE

When did he have you start cycling? I have Hakky as one of the physicians on my list.
55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant.

Also how did you go from 21cm to 26 cm? Were you originally undersized and were you happy with Hakky?

Interesting, I sure your surgeon knows what he is doing in your specific situation. My understanding is that early cycling is probably the most important, but can be hard if discomfort around the pump immediately after surgery, so surgeons will leave some fluid in the cylinders, but not completely full (since then the reservoir sac will be empty). I would say most of the high-volume surgeons are probably leaving some inflation immediately post-op and come back to start cycling as early as 3 days (dr. eid) to maybe 6 weeks after surgery).
How bad is your Peyronie's disease? Did the surgeon talk about strategies to maximize length, girth, and fix the curve at the time of surgery?? I didnt ask these questions before my first surgery and I regret it so much. I wish I had asked the questions and ultimately found the 2nd surgeon who has the experience to do it all.
62 year old, ED+PD, Coloplast Titan 22 cm no RTE in 2019 with Dr. Irwin Goldstein => failure, now with plaque excision/tunical expansion to Coloplast Titan 26 no RTE in 2022 by Dr. Darshan Patel, now with classic pump 2024

I think he had me wait to start inflating a little longer than what Tatem did. If you look through my log it will say but I don't recall off the top of my head.

Tatem undersized me which cause me to have to get the revision. I don't really blame him that much, it was more of a result of an infrapubic surgery rather than a penoscrotal (which Hakky did).
I was very happy with Hakky. He is top notch. I have not kept up to date in the past 2 years on the whos who of inplants, but I would only go with: Hakky, Eid, Kramer, Karpman, or the guy in Houston (Clavell?)

Jwdetails,
Yes we have discussed it. It is about 30 degrees to the side. His preference is to leave alone and let me work with it for next six months. His patients have had success with this. If he grafts the other side, it means even shorter dick. I’ve already lost my beautiful 7” to cancer and pyronnies and am willing to keep as much of the 5” left.

That seems reasonable to leave alone if its minor curvature. I would say that the implant alone does correct most of the curve over time, but I started with pretty severe curvature and that was not the answer, especially since it was going both up and to the side. The up curve improved but the side did not and had a poor outcome.
" If he grafts the other side, it means even shorter dick." ? - do you mean a plication? Plaque incision or grafting would likely increase the length a little, but may not be worth the increased risk. Like I said, I think with 30 degree probably good to follow your surgeon recommendation.
