GT,
I agree with your thoughts on the frequency of sexual activity. Even in my late 40s, my wife and I were having sex almost every day, with her being a willing participant. However, ever since I started using injections, those days have unfortunately come to an end. Now, I inject myself at most two to three times a week, as I want to avoid the hassle of dealing with a prolonged erection and having to plan the right time, which isn’t always easy. The spontaneity in our sex life is gone.
That’s one of the main reasons I’ve been considering switching to an implant—to bring back the spontaneity and frequency we once had. But maybe I'll be happy with what we have right now. I don't hear any complaints from my wife for sure.
Regarding Dr. Clavell's statement about the 58,000 cycles, I’m sure he’s basing his comments on information provided by the manufacturer or studies he has reviewed.

55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant.
Re: Tenacio pump lifetime claim by BSC
I cycled twice daily for first 10 months or more so that’s 600 cycles. Then 2-3 times a week since.for an additional 1-1/2 years. Thank goodness I have a coloplast genesis. I’m approaching 900 cycles! And just 2-1/2 years in!! I have sex once a week, my wife gets me off manually once a week and I generally masturbate at least once a week so 3 times a week would be a very probable number. Besides I occasionally pump up just to feel it in the morning so probably do this once a week or so so 3 would be a conservative number per week for me. When it wears out I’ll get it replaced.

Take a look at the red underlined text. While it mentions that the pump is designed to last 10 years, it also specifies an expected lifespan of 1,000 cycles. If someone is cycling the pump daily for the first year alone, that would already account for 720 uses. Then, factoring in average sexual activity—let’s assume three times per week—that adds another 156 uses per year. This brings the total close to 1,000 uses within just one year, which seems surprising. It’s hard to believe the pump is designed to handle only around 1,000 uses. To last 10 years, this would average out to roughly two uses per week.
I wonder if this 1,000-use lifespan applies to both types of pumps and implants from both Coloplast and AMS.
Thank you for posting this. 1k cycles is a huge red flag imo. This definitely deserves looking into and clarification.
Re: Tenacio pump lifetime claim by BSC
The more that I think about this. I think the source picture has a misprint. We can debate forever how much sex is consigered average. The number stated should be for testing purposes. Normally an item is tested for more cycles than what it is felt it will be used. 1,000 cycles, no matter how we define it is just too low for scientific testing. That is an error, no question about it.

I have sent an email to AMS inquiring about this. Let's see if they'll respond. Will post update if I hear back from them.

Another thing to point out is that their bench testing to gauge the refill rate of the implant (bullet point above the one you pointed out, sambalamba) involved a tiny sample size of just 5 implants. A bit underwhelming for a test.

This reminds me of the bench testing information from the Coloplast Genesis (Malleable) leaflet, simulating a lifespan of 60 years with "average" use. Nice marketing material

Maybe the whole test has to do with reliability of the independent valving system. For full reliability testing the 5 pumps seems awfully low especially when you compare it with the Coloplast info that LastHope posted.

Re: Tenacio pump lifetime claim by BSC
Apologies for the confusion. The Coloplast leaflet screenshot posted by me was for the Coloplast Genesis malleable (clarified above), not the Genesis pump in IPPs.
Yes Sambalamba, you mentioned a good point about reliability testing. It would be nice to have all devices stress-tested to their breaking points in a controlled environment, within the same lab and testing equipment. This approach would keep the manufacturers competitive in terms of material reliability and provide a quality ranking for prospective patients.
Patient comfort and other subjective satisfaction metrics, comparing all models, can be measured and ranked using something like the SSIPI (Satisfaction Survey for Inflatable Penile Implant).

Did they ever responded ?
Hard flaccid syndrome since 2019. Trying to get better with conservative treatments but an implant is on my radar
