Deciding on getting a whole new implant vs. just changing out the pump for the classic pump per the doctors recommendations. Its been about 2.5 years since my last surgery.

Anyone have just the pump replaced? - how is the recovery?

If the cylinders are ok, and only a couple years old, I'd definitely consider having just the pump replaced.
I would imagine the surgery would be much less complicated, as only the scrotum would need to be opened, and recovery would be much shorter and less painful.

I'd discuss it with your doctor and go with his recommendation though.

Good luck.

I had a complete revision 25jun24,3wks ago, everything was removed, pump, cylinders and the reservoir and replaced with a new ipp, only one incision and that was in the scrotum, recovery was nothing like the original, the scrotum is pretty much healed up and my wife really likes the new one. I would replace the whole thing since you are going in there anyway.

It's interesting that the wife prefers the AMS

I've seen a number of guys that have had both and prefer the AMS and maybe one or two in the reverse

Yes she does, and my 3rd week we have had good sex and she told me again that it was a more natural feel to her, both orally and penetration, i am glad she likes it,

Wanted to post an update - I just ended up having to get the pump changed out which the doctor was able to do. Minimal recovery and back to using the implant within 2 weeks after surgery. There was a stitch that was somewhat painful but saw the doctor at 2 weeks and he ended up just removing it early since it was bothersome although it was dissolvable type.

Pretty impressive the minimal recovery, pain, bruising.

Jwdetails,
GREAT news, hope mine is only a pump. Surgeon thinks it's a crack in the connecting tubing, possible total.

I hope this one lasts much longer! Why did the revision take so long? Your initial post was from late June. Could you have any sex at all during that time? I am trying to get an idea of how long it takes on average from the discovery of dysfunction to the revision surgery.
30 years old French with ED caused by priapism episodes at the age of 15. Pills have lost most of their potency, injections work but are painful and not a long-term solution. Scheduled for an AMS 700 CX on 05/12/2024.

Opt for the classic pump in my opinion. It seems after talking with the doc, has had more issues with the one touch over last 2 years and as had few patients in similar shoes (tubing breaking on the one touch pump right where it goes into the pump). The disadvantages are you to hold it down buttons to deflate (not "one touch") and it makes a squeaky sound like a clown horn sometimes. For me those aren't a big deal, but trying to get the most use out of the implant is and avoiding surgery.

I was a little late in posting but in terms of timeline

Late June - discovered pump was working
Mid-July - Saw the doc and he diagnosed the problem. Scheduled for surgery, opted to wait till 6 weeks after a family function, but could have had it done 4 weeks.
Sept - got surgery. outpatient procedure under anesthesia.
2 weeks later - saw doc, removed a bothering stitch, cleared to start using.
First use at 2 weeks, scrotum and pump a little sore from sex, but manageable
4 weeks afterward - all back to normal, no pain.

I think trying to get it taken care of sooner is probably ideal but most of the surgeons have a 4-12 weeks waiting list that do this a lot.
