Greetings all. This is my first post here.
Recently, after waiting anxiously for months, I gave myself my first (and possibly last) TRIMIX injection. Allow me to explain..
I had been struggling for decades with ED, watching slowly as my erections got smaller and less firm then they had in years past. I first started noticing my it when I was in my 40’s, and now in my 60’s getting hard was a thing of the past. The ED was most likely caused by a combination of my weight (now much less than it was in years past), and my diabetes. The lack of an ability to get an erection caused me not only to feel like less of a man, but killed my self-confidence and (not surprisingly) my sex drive as well. I was depressed when I thought about it, and that was most of the time to be truthful - and of course that didn’t help either.
I tried several types of oral ED medications over the years, but these caused sometimes severe side effects, and frankly resulted in very mixed results. Eventually I stopped taking them, resigning myself to the fact the alternatives I researched online just seemed too extreme for me.
Fast forward to about a year ago and I stumbled onto this forum, and what I read about people using TRIMIX was encouraging - enough to get me to think about trying it as I was pretty desperate. Granted, had you told me a year ago that I would be willingly plunging a needle into my penis I would have told you to pack sand. Yet, here I am.
After reading even more people’s experiences on here, I was encouraged enough to go to a doctor and talk about it. At the end of the conversation, I was on-board, and he prescribed TRIMIX “Form 5” (Papaverine 30mg/mL, Phentolamine 1mg/mL, and Prostaglandin 1-mcgf/mL) with a starting dose of 0.2.
After obtaining the TRIMIX, and completely excited and encouraged, I froze the concoction until the day of my doctor’s appointment where we would try it for the first time. We talked, injected the first dose, told me what to expect and watch for, and sent me on my way.
Within about 10 minutes on the way home, I could feel it working much to my delight. It actually felt HARD again! I was completely amazed, and could not wait to get home to strip off my clothes and have a better look.
Once home, I could see the effects of the medication on full display. It was nothing short of miraculous! To say I had not been that hard since I was a teen would be an understatement. It was simply, in my book, a miracle. I could not have been happier!
To celebrate this, and to make sure I did not let it go to waste, I masturbated, relishing in those good feelings that I figured had been lost forever. Afterword’s I went to bed for a nap, fully expecting my erection to subside. This is where the problems came in.
I woke up, and the erection was still in full swing. This was now at around the 3 hour mark, and I was getting concerned with the fact the doc stated the erection should last about an hour. I had read they can last longer at times, but I had never heard a “normal” one lasting 3 hours.
I knew about priapism’s, and knew one of the ways to try and combat them was to take Sudafed. So I went to the store and grabbed a normal box and took four 30mg (I believe) tabs and continued to shop while I waited for the medication to have some effect. I should also mention that not only was the erection still in full swing, the entire upper half of my penis was aching bordering upon painful. I can only assume it was from the penis being so very hard.
Still in the store, and at the 4-hour mark, I knew this was now an emergency. I headed home, picked up the wife, and we proceeded to the ER. They checked me in, and after intake immediately started upon treatment. They injected something into the base of my penis 5 times over 2 hours, and towards the end wrapped my penis with some athletic tape - kind of like a compression stocking. All this brought the erection back down to my normal, boring, flaccid penis. I was devastated.
Going from something I only could dream about to a nightmare scenario has given me great pause and a good amount of fear and anxiety… again. I could not be more disappointed if I tried. What was supposed to be an amazing experience turned into giant disappointment. Because to be honest, I am not sure I want to go through that again, not to mention the potential ER bills if things go South one more time.
My question to you good people on here: has anyone else been in this situation, and if so what did you do and what direction did you take? I really want this to work, but not sure what to do now. I have not informed my doc as of yet, as I am reluctant to move forward with anything else for the fears mentioned above. Any help, suggestions, or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading.
First Injection.. then Priapism
Re: First Injection.. then Priapism
Welcome to the forum!
I'm not clear on your mix. What was the Prostaglandin amount per ml? I'm no doctor or medical professional of any kind but 0.2ml or 20 units seems like too high of a starter dose. I would have thought your doctor would have started you at around 5 units or 0.05ml. That's 1/4 of what you started at. If you try again that's where I think I'd start, or maybe just 4 units (0.04ml).
I prefer to hear about first trials where the doctor keeps you there and monitors your reaction. But then my doctor prescribed Edex, a proprietary cartridge containing only Prostaglandin, and told me to read the package insert for instructions. Gee, thanks doc. He was an older man and has since retired.
When you say you bought a "normal" box of Sudafed was it off the shelf or did you have to ask the pharmacist for it. If it was on the shelf open to the public, it was the wrong stuff. It has to be the one with the active ingredient of pseudoephedrine and not time release. It's kept behind the pharmacist's counter. If you have blood pressure issues check with your doctor before using it.
The pain you experienced could have been pain from the prostaglandin, which some guys get or was more likely from the extended erection.
I'm sorry your 1st experience was so bad. Give your dick a few days to recover and retry at a much lower dose, after discussing your results with your doctor.
Be sure and discuss your 1st trial event with your doctor. I've never had an extended erection episode as extreme as yours. Early on I did have a few where an ER visit was being considered but never quite reached that point. I have had extended erections for which I took pseudoephedrine. Your dose was clearly too high. As I mentioned, I'd consider trying a quarter of your original dose. I'm still wondering what the prostaglandin amount is in your mix.
Good luck.
