When daily 10mg Tadalafil stopped being consistent, I considered an IPP but decided against it due to the reliability issues I’d read about on Facebook, Reddit, and Franktalk.

Since my health insurance doesn’t cover implants, it felt like owning a high-end sports car, impressive but no surplus fun money to maintain (revisions). I then gave up on the idea.

I also didn’t want to rely on injections, as injecting once or twice daily for my required frequency would most likely lead to Peyronie’s disease.

Then, after watching YouTube videos by Dr. Ashish Sabharwal, a high-volume malleable implanter in India, I was sold on the idea of a malleable implant as it seems to fit by maintenance budget and expectations. Also, I will be forever thankful to mbambo and thedriver for sharing their positive experiences with these implants and for answering my questions.

After I no longer could hold an erection to have sex with I went to a urologist and we spoke about implants, that was 6 years ago, so after jumping through all the hoops for insurance coverage I had my first implant 5 1/2 yrs ago. Glad I did it, yes the first few days are the worse then it gets better and after a few weeks you will be glad you did it. Talk to your urologist, research him and the hospital that will perform the surgery. Ask on this site whether they have heard of your surgeon, also wouldn't hurt to contact the mfg of the implant and talk to them about the implant and where you are having it done. The information is out there just got to search for it.

Thanks for reply, interesting...mallable is also good because it left the testicles alone

For me it was an easy decision. After my prostatectomy, my erectile function never returned. But I was too young, and my libido too healthy, to accept an erection-free future. My implant has been very successful! I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about my implant experience. Feel free to send me a PM if you’d prefer a private conversation.
Diagnosed with prostate cancer (genetically predisposed) at 52. Aggressive and required immediate intervention. Robot assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in December 2021. Erectile function never returned. Penile implant (AMS 700) in March 2024.

My T levels had always been on the lower end of normal range but neither primary care nor urologist would do anything. (We are talking 280-320 with that labs reference being 205-880 as normal).

On my annual physical at age 60 it dipped below 205. By 1 nano gram/deciliter.

My trimix/ED urologist had retired. So I got a new one and went in for a TRT consult/work up.

He took a good history, got my records, did a bunch of labs. I saw him at 6 month intervals. Really liked him as a physician. Consummate professional and all around great guy.

He moved me to Quadmix. Then back to trimix. I was telling him about how injections were still working but not like they had in the past. We discussed pretty much everything I’d done and he said I could try injecting plus VED but if it were him, he’d drop back, punt, and install an implant.

So I let him show me the devices and tell me how they worked and I said ok, let’s do it. I asked him when he could do it. He laughed and said no, he’d quit installing them about the time he turned 70 but there was a surgeon on staff. I asked if he was any good. His answer was “he had better be, I taught him how to install them.”

So I was booked for Nov 2019 and a month out the hospital called and said they needed to postpone….my surgeon was going to be presenting at some big medical conference.

I got on the phone and found the highest volume guy in the nearest big city (Austin) and called, grabbing a cancelled appointment for a surgical consult. I needed it done by Dec 31st, we had hit our family catastrophic cap for year so whatever I had done there would be no co-pay.

The doc put me on the table about 10 days later, on Dec 31st 2019. I had started out wanting a Titan by my usual med school/research hospital team and I ended up with AMS LGX installed by Austin’s high volume surgeon who is in process of teaming up with San Antonio’s high volume guy to establish a men’s sexual health specialty clinic within their practice.

I ended up with a stellar outcome and based upon some other guys’ reports it’s like The Rolling Stones. You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometime, you’ll find, you get what you need.
Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.

Started using pills when I was 45 just a couple years after starting blood pressure meds they works well for about 10 years, by that point I was using up to 20mg cialis plus 100 mg of V and still would lose erection occasionally during sex after just a few minutes. Then went to injections. First few shots settled on about 4-5 units of a medium potent tri-mix. Within a month I was at 8-10units within a 8 months I was at 85-90 units and starting to be very painful with terribly fluctuating results. At this point I decided on implant. Took about a month to get in for consult and another couple months to get surgery scheduled. Used shots a total of 16 months and have never looked back! Love my bionic dick!!!! Love how it goes flaccid and still have a 5-1/4” softie. Took about a year to be totally comfortable and soft when flaccid but only first few months were an any issue to speak of. 6-3/4” of rock hard throbbing hard in at the pump of a ball! Any time any where for as long as I want!!
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong and loving it!

Pills never worked for me. Only did injections for about a year. Erections not strong enough and hit or miss. Final straw, an injection bruised me and made a temporary curvature. I was unable to get an erection for a month, no matter what I did. Injections started working again but spontaneous erections disappeared.

After this incident, I had my initial appointment set up 2 months later. Surgery within 3-4 months
