Got the news Monday that my cancer might be back and I'll need radiation treatment and hormone treatments. I had a good run being cancer free and glad I decided on the implant when I did. Question I have for others, will the radiation and estrogen therapies change my dick and balls? Will the implant shrink as the penis shrinks? Is the implant more likely to fail with the radiation treatments. I've heard the my balls may shrivel up? The cancer doctor hasn't been too helpful answering these questions at all.
Right now they are saying I will need 18 months minimum of hormones.

Prostate Cancer Back - how does it change my implanted dick
Radical Prostatectomy in 2015; failed pills, straight to Coloplast Titan in 2019 by Dr. Valenzuela in NYC, Replaced with AMS 700 CX in 2022 by Dr. Darshan Patel in San Diego, CA. Wish I jumped to an implant even before prostate cancer!

Re: Prostate Cancer Back - how does it change my implanted dick
This has come up on here before, got almost no response. There was one mention a few years back of a guy who had a radical prostectomy and Dr said he had to remove resivour or cut one of the tubes not sure exactly but either way left his implant non functioning. My concern would be when they remove prostate it actually shortens the urethra which in turn shortens the penis during healing time when you can’t get an erection as you heal… however the urethra can stretch back out over time but concern being someone pumping their implant up and tearing the urethra loose if pumped before the healing is final. I have a close friend who is 2-1/2 years into fighting prostate cancer that has now spread. He hasn’t had a natural erection since and relies on injections as pills don’t work at all. He has lost some significant length over this time as his health is deteriorating and it difficult for him to even want to use a VED and he has no libido with all the hormone treatments. Good question and following as this is interesting to me.
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong and loving it!

i am so sorry that your prostate cancer is acting up again. There is a little reassuring news though that i want to sahre with you. As you are likely aware, prostate cancer in general is slow growing and treatments work pretty well such that you end up dying of something other than prostate cancer (the saying is: "with prostate cancer, you die with your cancer, not from your cancer.")
regarding the implant, you are in a very good place to handle the radiation treatment and hormones. I went through this and here are my answers:
regarding length of penis--"absolutely no change, the implant sets your size, and that will not change"
regarding hardness and ability to have sex: "very little change, the implant will work as if nothing happened" but, if glans engorgement is important to you, that will likely get worse since your ability to have any remnant of a natural erection will go away with the hormone treatment
regarding libido (desire to have sex)--the hormones will stop your sex drive, and that is a bummer but you will not miss it that much because you just do not have the desire (very much like a woman in menopause or like a little boy who has not seen puberty). Just like the little boy, and the menopausal woman, life goes on, and you will adjust and be ok. The god news, once hormone treatments stop, you will likely go back to your old self (though probably a year after stopping hormones)
For me, I went through 8 months hormones and radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Now 18 months later, it is as if nothing happened to me, and I am back to loving and having sex with the same size dick and the implant, of course, never noticed any of this.

appreciate all the thoughtful response and private messages. Means a lot and certainly in a better headspace.
