CrossFit and implants

Postby ragingbull » Sat Oct 05, 2024 4:09 pm

After the healing period, is CrossFit generally advised against for someone with an implant? If not contraindicated, which specific types of exercises should be avoided let's say after 3 months?

You can do pretty much whatever you want to, BUT impact sports should be played with a great degree of care and concern.(Tackle football, MMA, Boxing)
Remember, you have new parts that don't naturally heal if broken.
As for CrossFit, I see no problem whatsoever because to the best of my knowledge nothing is being struck on your body.

I am an Avid outdoorsy fellow and rack up anywhere from 20-30 miles a week hiking.
I've swam
Lightly jogged( Hip replaced)
Bicycled
Hit a heavy bag/speed bag
Jumped rope

....If I pondered a while longer I'm sure I've done some other things.

Oh, I forgot- I did DDP Yoga also(Highly recommended-Great stuff!)

Never had a problem with any of them.

Still, run that past your Doctor.
There may be something he would want to be restricted.

Best wishes.

I understand your concerns about doing CrossFit with implants. It can feel a bit tricky, but honestly, many people manage just fine. I’ve heard that staying in touch with your doctor is vital. They can give you the best advice based on your specific situation. Listen to your body and take it slow, especially when starting new movements or lifting weights.

Some folks I know have found that modifying specific exercises can help, like swapping high-impact stuff for lower-impact alternatives. Plus, connecting with trainers who understand your needs might be a good idea. You can check out some resources on exercise.com for tips tailored to your fitness journey. Remember, it’s all about what feels suitable for you.

I do juijitus with mine. But i have to deflate to the max, then bend it towards my butthole a bit and tuck it a bit, and wear two pair of tights that are each two sizes small. that keeps everything snug and in place and safe.

I find that any type of cycling, for me, is not comfortable. But I hated it before anyway.

Hope these opinions help a little.
