So my IPP was installed on the 26th. AMX 700 cw 18cm + 3cm I'm afraid i dont know much more than that. Procedure was done through NHS and the aftercare is seriously lacking.
i have been sent home with a catheter attached as i failed the TWOC and they wouldnt let me leave due to how weak my stream was.
Yesterday day 6 most of my bruising cleared from the area, things are still mighty swollen though. my pump seems to hanging out with my left testy but the skin is still far too thick to actually tell whats going on there. Mostly off the pain meds now taking them primarily in the evening, a day of sitting and walking and my skin gets so sore around my sack and legs it feels like when you have a flu and your skin hurts to the touch. Its happened every evening since the op and pain meds only take the edge off, what i end up doing at this point is going to my bed and just chilling for the rest of the evening. I do get a sharp stinging pain in my left testy at seemingly random i have a funny feeling its due to how crowded it is there. Does anyone know roughly at what point the swelling is likely to disappear?

Hello! Did you have the ams cx installed? Did the doctor choose the implant or you? Who is your surgeon?

RMJ9224, there is not a magic day where it all goes away. It gets better a little everyday until one day you realize it hasn't bother you for a few days. Personally I think you're doing pretty good. Days 5 & 6 were my roughest days and you're past that already.

Yeah i've even surprised my self with how quick the recovery process for me has been, One of my larger worries though currently is the catheter thats still in, i just had my appointment letter through today for the removal date which is exactly a week from now. That would be 14 days i've spent with a tube pulling my poor fella in one direction or another and worried it might have a negative effect on the way it heals.Gt1956 wrote:RMJ9224, there is not a magic day where it all goes away. yeah AMS 700 CX. Implant was chosen for me i didnt get that luxury. My surgeon was questionable as far as i know they are most definitely NOT a high volume surgeon the person who was ment to do it was Dr Summerton at Leicester General Hospital. However right before my surgery it seems like he left them in a surgeon capacity and the person who was filling his roll is called Michelle Christodoulidou being supported/advised by Dr summerton.

Congrats on joining the bionic life. A catheter should be removed sooner than later, in my opinion. Can't believe doc is letting it stay in that long. Another procedure I undergo using a catheter leaves me unable to hold it for a few days.

I've also read some scary stuff about erosion of the implant being caused by prolonged use of a catheter, issue will be the NHS is pretty backlogged nothing happens quick through them. I have emailed my surgeon personally to ask if I can just remove if my self at home rather than waiting another 7 days. Hoping he replys in a timely manner

Wow what a mess, hoping you get a resolution soon. I'm absolutely terrified about having any sort of drain or urine catheter for prolonged period after surgery.

Glad to hear you are doing well, swelling will take a couple of weeks but you should be using a lot of ice, also the catheter, I am seeing more and more guys going home with a catheter, my first implant I spent the night at the hospital with a catheter until the next morning, remove catheter and out of there. My second implant, I was in and out of the hospital in 3 hrs with catheter removed. Don't understand why they are leaving the catheter in. Good luck

Mine was left in overnight and they removed it the next day around mid day, however because I struggled to pass urine to the point where i couldn't pass any at all. However I figured out that I could pass it in a standing position although very slow and a very weak stream.
The nursing staff however seen this as inadequate and I was told I couldn't go home and needed to stay in overnight. However I wanted to get out ASAP so they gave me the option to have a catheter inserted for a week and go home. I was hoping the removal appointment would be a lot sooner however it's a lot later being nearly 2 weeks I have to keep it in I can foresee it causing future issues to be honest.
