16 days post op, Big pump issue

Postby RMJ9224 » Thu Dec 12, 2024 11:26 am

16 days now post op, I've had an issue with my pump, its been a problem since day 2 but i didnt realise how big of an issue it actually was until recently.

On day 2 the nurse come to deflate me, take my drain out, take my catheter out, the usual but she had massive issues trying to deflate me and it wasnt because i was swollen its because my pump was in a completely wacky position. If a typical pump sits in the scrotum top being 12o'clock and bulb being 6o'clock from the implant holders perspective the top of my pump is 3o'clock pointing towards my right leg and the bulb is 9o'clock pointing towards my left leg. Its also pretty deep back there feels like its half in my sack and half in my perineum.

I failed my TWOC so had to keep in the catheter for a few days then i went back and had my check up got my catheter removed (day 10) and mentioned to the nurse at the time about the pump, she was the same one who deflated me on day 2. She confirmed the positioning of the pump ect as at first i was worried what i was feeling was something else, however she did try to give it a good attempt to move it slightly for me and gave me instruction on how to start pulling on the pump in an attempt to try and relocate it into its proper home.

Its been 6 days of me constantly tugging and pulling each time i do the next day it gets very sore and bruised but I've had 0 motion at all its remained in exactly the same location. I have emailed my surgeon because i have a funny feeling this is going to require them to open me up to rearrange the pump location however all of a sudden my surgeon seems to be the hardest person to get hold of.. typical. I'm through the NHS with this so i know for a fact heels are going to be dragged here and its going to take an absolute age. Obviously I'm concerned that this kind of delay is going to have a pretty big impact on the functionality of the implant as it could be potentially weeks to get it sorted before i start cycling which should realistically start the week of xmas.

Does anyone have any advice or techniques they have used to moved a typically stubborn pump that i can try? Dont think it really matters but i have the AMS 700 CX with the standard pump

Hey man, I’m sorry to hear about this. Usually getting in a bathtub with warm water (provided your dr has cleared you to do this) helps loosen up the pump, so you can tug in there.

Who was your doctor by the way? It would be helpful to know.

Through NHS so it was no one high volume, probally the exact reason my pump is in the wrong direction and body part. But there was 2, the one who was meant to be my surgeon left the hosptial in a "surgical capacity" before he got around to me, Seems like he was there advising/training a new surgeon as his replacement by the time my name come up on the wait list. I was assured he would be in the surgery as well but i didnt see him before they knocked me out and based on the silly pump issues i doubt he ever was. The surgeon who did my op was someone called Michelle Christodoulidou. where the person who was supposed to do it originally was someone called Dr Summerton, his name has popped up on here once and with a pleasant comment.

Sorry but you aren't giving enough info on your implant. Length & your proximal measurement might be important.

At my deflating appointment. It took awhile to feel the deflate button. It isn't very big. Find the fat part of the bulb. Move up to the "neck" of the bulb. If you didn't run into the ears you should be either on the front or back side. I'm betting on the front side. I could find the button & the best method I found was to just slide my finger tip over it while gently pressing inward. Mine releases very easily now. Early on it might of taken a little more effort but not much. Once you learn what the button feels like. You've good, just a gentle press. Now all I do is just slide my finger over it & it releases.

Thanks for your post but i dont think you have grasped what my post is referring to, This is not an issue of inflating or deflating the pump, im not at that stage yet, This is an post to say my pump is in my perineum sideways and I'm after tips on how to move it because its supposed to be in my scrotum and its simply not usable in its current position.

Just from years of reading on here the only advice I could give is continue trying to pull it down straight where you want it. There’s been many posts on here over the years where the pump adhered to the scrotum or even a testical and usually with persistent pulling and tugging it eventually comes loose and moves around. I was very fortunate and mine hangs perfectly straight down with the bottom of the bulb hanging at the bottom of my scrotum. I pulled and moved mine around every day from the 2nd or third day and maybe that’s why it floats around wherever I want it to now. I can move it to where I can pump it right or left handed. As others mentioned get in a hot tub or shower and stay at it. It should eventually break free and float around.

Thanks man, today i've spent hours being quiet aggressive with it, digging my fingers in pushing and tugging and pulling and i have manage to move it somewhat, way more motion than i've managed to achived in the last 6 days. I think it was a combo of being a bit sensitive in the area and also being far too "delicate" with it. For the first time in 17 days I'm now able to close my legs without the pump getting pushed and it feeling painful to do so. Definitely made progress which is positive, I'm going to be sore tomorrow no doubt.

I accidently put a few pumps in it moving it around and my girlfriend was able to find the release button to deflate it so again another positive. Its no where near my scrotum where i want it to be, Its still floating halfway between my balls and my ass but im hoping with some persistence im able to push it into the sack, once its theres it should be easy going.

You’re still early on so things should work out. Hang in there. A whole other set of challenges await when you start cycling. It’s a long process, so take it a day at a time. I was very fortunate in my recovery so when I returned at 2 weeks for my drain and stitches removal my Dr said I could add a pump or two as long as I could deflate every time. I gently added a few and then deflated…. This went on a day or two and I gradually was max inflating which only took 5-6 full pumps at first. Over the weeks and months it all stretched out and now I can get between 25-28 pumps and rock hard. Been 2-1/2 years and it just gets better. After 8-10 months it will become a normal part of your body and you think it couldn’t get better…. But by a year or 14 months it just feels more natural and now after 2 years I completely forget about it even being anything but my normal cock. It’s all in getting used to it and it does soften up and get more comfortable also. Good luck with the pump. Keep us up to date on the progress
