Sad as it is, there will probably not be much improvement over the ones we have in life expectancy. They still say average around 10 years which I still believe. The reasons we hear about so many issues here is simply that’s what this sight is mostly about. As with anything that’s mechanical, it will eventually wear out and break. Add in manufacturing practices and install issues you will always have breakage at some point. I’ve owned trucks that lasted 250,000 miles and I had one last week that blew up at 180,000 miles. My neighbor had a new Chevy that practically blew up at 50,000 miles and he was meticulous with maintenance and drove like an old man. Mechanical failure is the norm. All we can do is get the best instal job and hope for the best. At least in my lifetime that’s my hope. 2years and 7 months and going strong.

I don't think these were common causes of ED 40 or maybe even 20 years ago. The overprescribing of SSRIs really occurred over the last 15 years, and "jelquing" is mostly a Reddit phenomenon.

I can certainly respond to your comment about revisions after a “certain age”. I got my implant at 79, one year ago , October 27. I turned 80 in September, so ten years with my mechanical penis should do the trick for me, I do believe? But then, we might just have to wait and see?

Every design has trade-offs. To me, 10-20 years seems like pretty good durability. To make it last longer might make it more expensive, less flexible, harder to pump, or god knows what other tradeoffs there might be. I think they've done a damn good job. I'm sure there will keep being improvements, but if I were prioritizing, I'm not sure I'd put longer life at the top of my list.

My dr put an IPP in a 101 year old man. He was in very good health. Getting married to a 90 something woman & they wanted a sex life.

Don't be quick to scoff at a revision at 90. You would still be younger than this man. Either way, good luck.
