Thoes who got infections, What symptoms did you get?

To anyone who was unfortunate enough to develop an infection, What signs/symptoms did you experience?

I've seen plenty of posts of people who got an infection but very very few mention what symptoms they had that made them realise it was an infection or to seek medical advice. Think it would be good to gather some peoples experiences.

Infection symptoms I see described in some Post-Op Discharge sheets:

--Redness spreading beyond the incision
--Worsening swelling and pain
--Sometimes fever (defined as higher than 101°F) and chills
--Pus from the incision
--Pain not controlled with pain medication
--In severe cases, chest pain or lightheadedness with the above symptoms

This is not my real-world experience. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if these are not written based on the real-world experience of real patients.

Yeah thats right, we all know what is expected when looking out for infection i imagine most of us are more educated on the matter because of the risk with the ipp, i'm just curious what manifested most commonly with people who did actually get an infection. Maybe people are able to give us some early warning signs to look out for that we would otherwise brush off because... "its just healing" ect

Agreed. Pus oozing out is the biggest red flag. The other symptoms can sometimes be deceiving and false positive alarms! Of course, if the incision is already closed, pus accumulating and swelling can happen. I've had that happen in my shoulder. It was not fun. No implants there, so it's obviously different.
