Young, single, surgery soon, questions

Postby ArcticBanana » Wed Feb 05, 2025 6:53 pm

Quick overview - mid 30s, single, very active and metabolically fit, severe ED for about 4 years, eventually had doppler with result of high velocity venous outflow via the circumflex veins at the base at both sides with vigorous dorsal vein flow with flow velocities of about 30 cm/s. I have surgery scheduled for the end of February. My surgeon will use a coloplast device with counterincision.
I'm more excited than nervous. This has been a long journey. I'm ready to move on with my life.
I have read my doctor's notes and watched Dr. Clavell's videos. The pre and post operative instructions seem annoying but manageable. I'll buy all the supplies - biker shorts, frozen peas/ice, looser chinos, ETC. I feel I’ve done my due dilligence around preparation, but I still have some lingering questions:
1. This is a remarkably personal experience that I do not wish to share with friends or family. It would be good to hear from other younger men who have also chosen to keep this private. Based on the post operative instructions it seems like I can handle this well - recover alone for a week or two, wear biker shorts under looser chinos in public, but otherwise live and behave normally, even if still painful or uncomfortable. Essentially, can I hide away for a week and recover, and then appear in public looking and acting normal? This is very important to me.
2. I'm a little worried about the glans. I don't have head engorgement now under any situation, even when the shaft is somewhat firm and I've taken pills, so penetration is impossible. I'm aware that blood supply to the head is different and won't be affected by surgery, but I've been told by my doctor that I shouldn't have problems with penetration if the shaft is hard enough, even if there is no blood to the head. Can someone reassure me that this seems correct?
3. My bathing post operative instructions: sponge baths for 48 hours, "back shower" okay after, no direct water contact at the wound site for 5 days. On the 7th day after surgery start warm baths, and wash the incision with soap and water. I don't have a bath tub, but I imagine that I'll manage with a pan/wash cloth.
This may be a strange question, but I don't think I've ever not washed downstairs for multiple days, and this is the first part of my body to smell and need cleaning every day. Do these instructions make sense, and is there anything I can do to keep this area clean and fresh and free from bacteria/normal odor?

1. You should be fine, after a week you might still be sore but it's easy enough to get around with loose clothing.
2. My glans doesn't engorge much if at all right now but I could penetrate just fine, those rods when pumped up are like steel.
3. Sponge baths at first yes, showers are usually ok after a couple of days being careful to not overly get the incision sure wet. Baths after 7 days is normal but if you don't have a bath that's fine, just take warm showers. It just means you're pretty much healed up enough to get the area wet.
You will not want to "scrub" the area, gently pat the area will be more than enough and after a couple of weeks you'll probably be able lightly scrub the area as it heals up. Good luck, my revision is in 2 weeks and I can't wait

As a side note mine has been broken for 13 months now and although it doesn't "grow" in length or hardness right now, it's still somewhat hard enough to penetrate with a little help just from the residual hardness of the cylinders themselves, not ideal but that will be remedied in a couple of weeks when my new one is implanted.

Not quite how it works. The distal tissue wall that is the end of you penis is there. That is what they measure to.....the end. That is so you get the correct length of implant. More than for glans engorgement. No implant to the end can lead to floppy glans. You don't want floppy glans.

I’m sure somewhere I read it goes somewhat into glands not completely though

I'm 8 days post implant surgery AMS 700 CX. Yeah I'm still sore and it would still be impossible to wear regular pants yet. I experimented with wearing a jock or compression swimsuit yesterday. The jock didn't keep mini-me upright against my abdomen. The compression shorts worked better if paired with a pair of loose slacks or sweats - I bought a compression swimsuit that is a size too small. Around the house I'm wearing Separatec underwear under loose sweats or lounge pants.

Bathing post surgery: uh, what is a back shower? I'm an RN. My dressings were removed on day 2. Thereafter daily showers only for the next several weeks. Until the dissolvable stitches have fallen off, absolutely no baths, hot tubs or swimming pools. Wash your jewels gently with unscented soap, daily, no scrubbing. Wash everywhere else normally.

Note: when my dressing was removed, it left a lot of bandage adhesive on my thighs, which caused my inner thighs to stick to my scrotum. Very uncomfortable. Got the adhesive off using cotton balls dipped in rubbing alcohol(isopropyl).

Clean clothes every day. No lifting anything over 10/20 lbs or working out in the gym for at least 4 weeks. Absolutely no sex including masturbation until OK'd by your surgeon. Once you start cycling, it's important to periodically drain your implant to completely flaccid... because your body is going to form a protective sheath (a.k.a. surgical capsule) around the reservoir in your abdomen. If you leave your implant partially inflated your reservoir will be partially deflated. If you allow that to continue, your body will create a sheath around the reservoir that's too tight to ever refill completely.

Those were the instructions from my surgeon, who does a penoscrotal incision. If your surgeon does an infrapubic incision, his instructions could be somewhat different. But I'd never want to submerge stitches in water (bath, etc) until that wound was completely closed up.

Good luck, you've got this!
GM(73) ED for past 10 years. Before: 6.0"L, 5.5"G. After (30 days): 5.5"L, 5.25"G. AMS CX MS pump 18cm/17.5cm on 1/29/25 by Dr Clavell in Houston.
