Injection failures

Postby davidu » Thu Apr 17, 2014 4:58 pm

Hello,
I am new to this web site and hope someone has experienced the same things I am going through. I had PC diagnosed in 2010, localized T2A stage II, Gleason 3+3=6. I know I am very lucky I caught this before any metastases. I had brachytherapy 4 years ago but as luck would have it my PSA began to rise again with an increased doubling time. So the decision was made to start LUPRON injections, and therein lies the ensuing problems.

I am sure everyone knows what Lupron does. LUPRON=NO TESTOSTERONE=NO DESIRE=NO ERECTIONS. The next part of the story is after 4 years I wanted to get back on the horse. Started with Viagra but Viagra needs desire, so that was a failure. Next my MD tried me on TRIMIX 20 then 40. I am now on QUADMIX 60.

The problem is that my shaft is hard, then glans is not and it seems that I am just a hair away from being able to penetrate. But I need just a bit more of an erection. I am kind of lost at this point. When I stand it seems harder than when I am lying down. We are continuing to experiment and maybe the position is the issue. Injections kind of take the spontaneity out of sex but I am still going to pursue this. By the way I am 71 and in good physical shape.

Any ideas?

Welcome to FrankTalk.
What do you, and your uro, think about possible Inflatable Penile Prosthesis (IPP) surgery? Although I am not sure that an inflated penis would help your desire, but I suggest it could...at least as much at injections. IPP could certainly help with the spontaneous situations, more so than injections. As to the "floppy glans" condition, it is my thinking that the IPP could help, and there could be additional help with daily Cialis. (I mention daily Cialis to stay with the theme of being more spontaneous, a situation I can relate to.)

davidu,
re: The problem is that my shaft is hard, then glans is not"
Sounds like - Soft Glans Syndrome

re: But I need just a bit more of an erection"
You should consider a VED (vacuum pump) with a ring (same as mentioned in the above article)
A good place to start: http://www.vitalitymedical.com/penis-pump.html

Personally I've only ever used a cheap pump ($20) and ring from Amazon.com (search: penis pump)
In the below image you can see the difference in my glans size before and after pumping and a ring ...

Bio,
Good post and illustrations, as are many of your posts/threads. A few questions relating to pics shown comparing glans?
1. I am assuming these pics taken in the time pre-implant so how does your look appear after PI (illustration not really needed)? My experience thus far is the VED will give the max in appearance, but not necessarily the outcome to expect from surgery, did you find this to be true.
2.Your pic of VED results is much as mine, and although a nice look and good mental feel, I did not have the sensitive feel in use with the "blue tool" as I would have liked, did you (cold and just not a pleasure to use)?
3.This just could be in the picture taken, but it appears there is a slight curve to right but when pumped with VED shaft straightened out. I have slight curve to left while I am partially inflated after surgery, I am hoping a more full inflation will straighten me out. Did you have curve after surgery at semi inflated?

I would have directed questions per PM, but judging from your shown desire to help here at FT, I did not think you would mind the questions via open post. And, I felt your answers could be of interests to others, as well as me.

Thanks in advance.

billylee,
re: I am assuming these pics taken in the time pre-implant"
Nope ... that image was taken after my Implant ... although most guys would say that the glans size is acceptable ...
http://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1709&start=10 (see bottom of page)

I've found that increasing the "swell" increases the feeling (nerve endings) ... as noted in the above article.

When the implant is inflated for intercourse it creates excellent rigidity in the shaft of the penis, but it does not address the fullness of the glans. In certain cases, the implant cylinders when fully pumped exert pressure on the glans from the inside and can actually limit blood flow to or push blood out of the glans, preventing glans fullness during erection. As a result, men with implants describe the tip of their penis as cold, wrinkled, flat, or small.

re: cold and just not a pleasure to use"
Try using a rice sock ... before and during your pumping session ... this will reduce that "cold feeling". I still get that "cold to the touch" feeling in the glans after pumping up my Implant (the wife notices this more than I do?)

re: Did you have curve after surgery at semi inflated"
Yes I have a slight curve ... before and after surgery ... I've often wondered why the URO wouldn't add a RTE (rear tip extender) to the shortened side to correct the curve. The answer from my URO was ... "it will straighten out when pumped" and they leave it at that ... go figure?
