I too was infected after having an IPP Coloplast put in on October 28, 2024. I went through a salvage malleable Rigicon which was placed on December 6. I’ve healed up, no further problems, and am using the malleable. I am considering going back to an IPP due to a bit of size loss (surgeons are more conservative with sizing the malleables) but may stick with the malleable depending on field testing.

My point is there is hope. You will get through this. PM me if you want to chat.

How is concealing the malleable going for you? And how is your sensitivity?

This is the key! Undersize it, and it’s going to flop on the glans or have a base like a broken joystick. Oversize a malleable, and the tips will poke out of the glans one fine day. Unless the IPP surgeon handles a lot of complex cases and salvages infections (Mulcahy salvage protocols), his experience sizing the malleables may be limited. Every patient undergoing a malleable should thoroughly grill and vet the surgeon about his sizing philosophy. Sizing will either make or break a patient's malleable experience. Malleable sizing slip-ups are much less forgiving than corpora filling and corpora expanding inflatables.

I agree coming from a MPP patient that was undersized and had to get a revision a year later .. one of my rods shifted and was trying to come out the side of the shaft. I went from 13mm x 17cm to 13mm x 20cm big difference.
Rigicon since 6-2023 happy to share my experience and do show and tell

Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear this man. Wishing you a speedy and safe recovery with the revision.

I had a few questions if you don’t mind:

1. How many weeks after the surgery exactly did your implant become infected?
2. Did you have any comorbidities at all? Diabetes, obesity, or otherwise?
3. Anything you would do differently during recovery this time around, compared to your first time?

Thank you very much.

I'm sure you have reasons.for asking these questions, but I have no answers for you. They're either not your business or things I'm wondering about.
