Hey Guys....
New to the board which has been super helpful in learning about implants. Scheduled for next month. For those that have them already, a few questions.
I'm a former bodybuilder and martial artist and still train rather heavy, do a lot of cardio on an upright bike, heavy abs and stretch pretty intensely (splits etc). My concern is doing anything that could disturb any components of the implant because I'd obviously like to get as much use out of it possible before having to go for a second round. I assume plenty of you do this stuff but would like to hear from the experts (those with implants) as to anything you would suggest staying away from after I'm healed up, in the gym or out.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers. Greatly appreciated.

What kind of martial art? Just choosing a shell for your balls and make sure it fits in a manner that don't push on your tubing, pump or reservoir.
I'm also a ma but not a pro. I got implanted yesterday and I'll see when I heal if I continue bjj or not

I don't fight anymore (standup) but still do significant stretching routines including splits and other aggressive movements. Also kick and knee protocols on heavy bag. Congrats and best of luck with your result.

I used to box competitively. I stopped around 12 years ago (gosh, now I feel old), around the time I was finishing my senior thesis in college. I would really not feel comfortable sparring with my implant, even if I had a cup. But I think I'm more neurotically cautious than others on this front. I have a malleable but I do think that the tubing, reservoir, and pump system in the inflatable must be under a lot of duress when you're kicking a heavy bag — remember Newton's laws of motion — and certainly when you're getting kicked.
Born 1990. ED since age 20 after a bicycle accident. Coloplast Genesis malleable implanted December 2024. Read my implant journal here.

Personally with a malleable I think there is no risk but with an inflatable, Could Autoniflate with a kick tubing could bee dommaged and if you get a kick to your cup it can bend and push on your pump. (I've been kicked the groin in a taekwondo competition in my youth and can affirm that cup doesn't resist.

Getting kicked in the groin sounds like an absolute nightmare. I've toughed it out through a pretty bad liver shot (example of how awful it is) but I don't want any part of getting kicked down there.

Competitive National record holding powerlifter here.
No issues with heavy lifting 6 days a week.
I personally would be a little concerned about long distance cycling and running due to excessive back and forth friction on the tubing....
But there are some serious cyclists and runners on here that haven't had a problem.
I would avoid any martial arts that might result in a groin strike.

I think this forum is great to get other patients experiences with implantation, but I would think a surgeon would be the best resource for an issue like this?
For what it is worth, my doctor said there are no restrictions on the types of physical activities once fully healed. He said he has had many patients that are very physically active including pro athletes, even boxers/MMA. I think one would want to always protect the family jewels with a cup, before and after implantation.

Of course I've discussed with the surgeon as well. We agree. I came on here because I think it is always good to get feedback from others who have already gone through the process. More information is always a good thing to me.

PowerliftingDad....how long would you say it was before you felt comfortable training back at full strength after your procedure?
