Does an implant erection “throb”?

Postby Nocturne » Sat May 03, 2025 9:19 am

Snuggled up next to my wife last night and, as sometimes happens while I’m drifting off next to her, I got a pretty good erection that was lightly “throbbing”. It got me wondering - when you inflate an implant, do you ever get that same “throbbing” sensation, or is it just not part of erections anymore?
Genetically sky-high Lp(a) of 390 led to various heart diseases. Ultra-low testosterone of 120 (now 480 with Clomid) also contributed to ED at age 41. Managing with daily Cialis, but for me, the implant is a "when", not an "if".

I get erections around/on top of my implant. When I get aroused I get it. And I’ll wake with morning wood.

Every one is different but some of us are very lucky to retain much of our natural sensations after the implant. I love my implant totally adjustable to my mood and sometimes the mood comes to you
like waking up with a descent throbbing woodie.

I was under the impression that this was impossible!

There are two places that fill with blood in your penis, the corpora cavernosa, ( 2 of these in the shaft) and the corpora spongiosum, which surrounds the urethra ( pee pipe) and also supplies blood to the glans, or head of the penis.

With an inflatable implant, the cylinders replace the corpora cavernosa, but the corpora spongiosum is retained as is. That means that even after implant surgery, a man can feel the tissues of the corpora spongiosum get erect during arousal, maybe even throb. However, it’s not enough to make you erect, but some definitely feel the sensation of starting to get an erection.

How much you feel this varies man to man. For me, I had my first sex and orgasm post surgery last night. I definitely felt that familiar throb and the head of my penis did get a bit engorged. I imagine a little viagra or Cialis could enhance this.

Post op I've only started having sex again in the last 10 days or so. I haven't noticed any general throbbing with the implant, but my dick does suddenly feel extremely hard at the point of orgasm (when I've had one), with some momentary release "throbbing" during the climax. It feels very much like a natural erection at that moment (going from memory; I haven't had a hard on for over 3 years ). I didn't think it was possible after being implanted but it feels great when it happens. And I'm not stopping at that point to investigate :).

Nocturne, as others described, when I get engorged in the remaining tissues I feel it also.

The glans and tissue around the urethra have a different blood supply than the corpora.

Additionally some surgeons place the cylinders in a manner that attempts to preserve corpora tissue/bloodflow. Dr Eid told me this in a preop visit and I seem to experience this as well.

HOWEVER. When I am 100% max inflated whatever engorgement I was getting seems to get squeezed out. I have less girth at max inflation than when I am engorged and 60% inflated. Luckily 60% inflation still seems pretty damn rigid.
