Any of you guys who have had implant surgery receive the AMS 700 UltrexTM. Read about it on another forum and wondered about it.
What are advantages of this AMS over other types?

I will tell you what I think I know. But I suggest you contact AMS directly for a definitive answer. Before I had my surgery over 2 years ago I talked on the phone to an AMS rep Elizabeth. Don't know if she's still around or if possibly there is another person. Here's a link to some contact info for Elizabeth and AMS, obviously quite dated: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=763&p=5005&hilit=elizabeth#p5005
Its my impression the Ultrex is obsolete and replaced by the supposedly new and improved LGX. However, I've also read reviews that say the LGX is just the Ultrex renamed. I believe however, the former comment is true. I think many docs, and this is supported by medical journal studies I have read, believe the life expectancy of the Ultrex is significantly less than the AMS CX and the Coloplast Titan. Also I've been told and read as well, that the Ultrex was difficult to replace since tissue tended to adhere and grow into the cylinders. The Ultrex was supposed to expand length and girthwise as the LGX does. And plenty of people claim the newer LGX solves the problems with the older Ultrex.
But, that's just what I've read and heard. I can't vouch for it. Search the implant forum for 'ultrex' and you'll see some other comments.

Re: AMS 700 UltrexTM
My first implant was the Ultrex. That one lasted four years at which time I had it replaced with another Ultrex. Because of less use, that one lasted fourteen years. Both of those were perfect. I had that second one replaced late last year with the 700 LGX. Compared with the first two, this one sucks. Wish I'd gotten a Titan.
I'm 75 and got an AMS Ultrex in 1995. Had it replaced in 1999. Got a new AMS 700 LGX in 2013.

Can you tell us why do you prefer the Ultrex over the 700 LGX? What are the advantages/disadvantages of both devices in your opinion?
Re: AMS 700 UltrexTM
Both of the Ultrex implants worked perfectly and were straight. Both cylinders of this LGX have little curves along the entire length with both cylinders curving to the left at the tips. It's obvious to me they are deformed, but my doctor writes it off by telling me that lots of guys have curved penises. That's true, but mine wasn't curved prior to having this implant installed. No doctor around here will give a second opinion, probably because they're all friends. Because this LGX at least functions and because of my older age, I don't really want to go through this surgery risking infection for a forth time, so I don't intend to expend more energy or time going a long distance pursuing the matter.

I wonder if the problem is the LGX itself, or instead is a problem with the installation or other physical issues you have. While I'm very pleased with my Titan, and would definitely choose it again, guys with LGX's are normally very happy and don't report your problems.
Its my understanding that"'S curves" in an LGX (or Ultrex) can be the result of oversizing. See http://www.flinturology.com/pitfalls.shtml. Or, could you have developed Peyronies Disease at the same time as, or even as the result of, the replacement surgery? Or, could there have been damage to your cavernosa and/or tunica as the result of the replacement, especially if the prior Ultrex had tissue adhering to it that had to be separated during removal?

I was fortunate in that none of the three implant surgeries was particularly painful. In fact, one week after the first replacement surgery I was having the time of my life vacationing in Mexico with my girlfriend. Did I use that implant after only one week? Nope. Not on your life.
Holy cow, my friend, do you care to explain your situation?

More than any major changes, the LGX is simply a new name for the Ultrex whose name had been around so long that, in the medical world, it was ancient. I have nothing but good stuff to say about the two Ultrex implants I had, so this last one, now called the LGX, is quite a letdown.
If it was oversized I'd feel a certain amount of pain with the cylinders applying pressure at the head of the penis, but I feel no pain or even pressure there at all. The surgery records indicate this one is the same size as the one it replaced (and the one before that), but this one results in my being about 1/4" shorter than before. As for Peyronies... my penis has been straight for 71 years, and when inflated only half-way is straight even now. In addition, after spending quite a bit of time talking with my urologist about my dissatisfaction, I'm sure he would have at least mentioned Pyronies if I had it (or even as an "out"), but he never has.
There is a video onine by one of the major implant surgeons where he talks about having so many problems with the LGX that he will no longer use it. Had I known prior to surgery about all the LGX negatives that I do now, I'd have gotten the Triton.
If I had any of the other issues you mentoned (damage to cavernosa, etc.), I'm sure there would have been more pain.
AMS was successfully sued many times a couple or few years ago by recipients of their LGX who had the exact problem I describe. This information is online for anybody who wants to search for it. Were I a young man and willing to have this surgery for a forth time, I'd be looking for an attorney right now.
And finally, this surgery was originally scheduled for an earlier date and I was in the room waiting to be wheeled into surgery. Forty-five minutes after surgery was scheduled to have begun, a nurse came in and told me surgery was cancelled because the AMS rep brought the wrong implant to the hospital. No, I'm not at all happy with that company.

I checked your profile, Panhead, to check your prior posts. I remember reading of your experience and seeing the photos. Man, oh, man, how you managed to get through that demands respect. When all is said and done, I certainly hope everything turns out great for you.
