Tubing Failures: infrapubic or penoscrotal

Postby Dprimal » Fri May 09, 2025 5:27 pm

Just curious if anyone out there knows, has been told, or has seen any data the would indicate which incision has had the most tubing failures? If there’s info on this site about it, I must have missed it. I’m not sure if the incision site plays a role in tubing failures or not. Isn’t one of them more prone to friction than the other?

One other question. Does it damage the pump or tubing when your fingers slip when inflating? I’m sure some of you have had the joy of inflating when your fingers slip and it feels like you’ve been flicked in the nuts with a wooden spoon.

Thanks guys.

Dprimal, ha ha yes I have slipped :(, not fun. I suspect you would have to do that numerous times or with hulk strength before anything would get damaged.

Haven't heard of any different surgery causing tubing failure, I had the Titan for 5yrs and it developed a hole going to the left cylinder. My understanding is that coloplast uses a outside contractor to make the tubing, hopefully they have resolved that issue. Both of mine were penscrotal..

I would imagine that the more connection used would cause more failures.

Holy crap what you describe about feeling like you got flicked in the balls with a wooden spoon sounds abysmal.

I don’t think that’s the case…Dr. Hakky has a video where he says he’s never seen a connector fail. I think the tubing itself is somewhat fragile and prone to friction or kinking wear.

I wasn’t sure if that was a good analogy or not, but man it’s definitely a pain in the nuts, literally. For some reason, over the past 15-20 years, I’ve replaced the common phrase “pain in the ASS” with “pain in the NUTS.” But since the penoscrotal incision site from being implanted, saying “pain in the nuts” has taken-on a way more real/personal meaning. ✌️
