Tugging pump into position post surgery advice

Postby JohnDoe » Fri May 16, 2025 1:16 pm

Good morning, I'm looking for some advice on pulling on my pump to help seat it into position in the lower part of my scrotum. It's been a little over a week since I had surgery. I'm still swollen and very tender. The burning sensation when I walk is the biggest deterrent. I've tried laying on my back, and feeling around, I've tried hot showers too. I can feel the pump, but can't get it to move. I'm also very intimidated to really grab ahold if it. I didn't think I'd feel so skittish about this part if the process. Any advice people can share to help me move through this next step of the process would be great appreciated.

When I went for my followup immediately post surgery the doctor pulled. It hurt! He said really need to pull it multiple times a day so it doesn't attach (pretty sure others have written about that as a bad outcome) it hurts less and less each time and after a week didn't hurt at all

It stinks but worth it
Believe post prostate surgery I was around 5 inches down from 6. Never measured girth but post titan otr 20 cm seems thicker.

JohnDoe, as Handyman described, it's important to keep the pump mobile including pulling it down. I had an unusually rough recovery, and the capsule around the bulb of the pump ended up getting adhered to the inside of my scrotum. I still have a small area adhered and continue to try to break it free. I believe that's a result of the capsule forming while the pump continued to rest against another surface. I've heard of adhesion happening to the base of the penis and testicles. The latter required surgery to break the adhesion.

Best wishes -- and keep it mobile !

It's only been a week, keep doing the hot shower and get the skin pliable, this week you will probably start feeling everything and pull on your pump using your fingers to try and break it loose, congrats and the worse is over..enjoy your new pecker

Johndoe, my doc told me to just do the best I could with trying to pull down on the pump.
It takes a while before you can get your fingers on it and tug it downward.

It will get easier,

My mistake was not being consistent about regularly pulling the pump down.
I'm now 5 1/5 weeks post op and the pump is now lodged at top left in my scrotum with only a centimetre free.
I have tried pulling it down for the past 3 weeks until my eyes watered with the pain, but to no avail. The surgeon also tried at the 3 week consultation, but it now seems to be there for good.

My suggestion would be to take a couple of Panadeine Forte, wait a couple of hours, then lie down, perhaps in a warm bath, and massage where the tubes disappear upward for a while to break up the mass of goo.
Then when you're ready, pull steadily downward and to the side for as long and as hard as you can.
It's early days for you, so it should come free, but probably only gradually.

Some tumescence from 5 weeks post op. Erection improved with pills, stalling @ 60%

Doggedly, I still believe you will be able to get the pump down from where it is. Just keep gently pulling it down. At 6 weeks I still had a good bit of pain in my scrotum and couldn't squeeze the pump too much. Just give it some time, but do stay in touch with your doctor.

Hang in there,

I'm grateful for all the advice. Thank you so much. Sworks, you nailed it!!! At this point I can't even get a grip on the pump although I can definitely identify it. It's really bizarre in that sometimes it feels like it's at the bottom of my scrotum, and other times it feels like it's more towards the front. I also have a large cyst on one of my testicles that is taking up real estate which makes things a little more tricky. I inquired about having it removed during the procedure, but the doctor did not want to add insult to injury with regard to inviting more of an opportunity for infection. I was told that we can address that at a later date if needed. I'll keep giving it the old college try. My 2 week follow up appointment is this Friday. I won't leave the doctor's office until I get a solution. Thanks again everyone!

Fixation is normal part of healing, relax, pull when comfortable to do so your body will adapt to its new part. Just maintain some pulling it will happen naturally, it took me a year for it to finally be in a good spot.
