Pump Position

I called but could not get the nurse I contacted to understand what I am asking so I will ask you.

My Titan was implanted last Wednesday so I am at day 7 post-op. I was told by three different doctors while in the hospital to make sure I keep the pump pulled to the bottom of my scrotum since it tends to wander some. I have not been able to do much pulling until today but after feeling around I can identify the pump portion and the release buttons. It is still at the bottom of my scrotum so I am good with that.

Here is what is different, and I wonder if it matters. Last week the pump was on the far right side of my Scrotum. Today is between my left and right testes - so it is in the middle - between them. Where in relation to the testes is the pump on other people? Do I need to worry about trying to get it moved to the right side again - outside of my right testes?

I don't want to look for problems but would like to know.

I believe part of Morey's expertise is in placement of pump. It is center of twins and more to front of them. Placement is very handy for right or left hand, perhaps more so for left, but I get a "fuller" squeeze with right hand. (When a spontaneous situation occurs then I can "entertain" with right and squeeze with left, may take more, smaller squeezes than if using right, but I am making use of both hands for 'the occasion".) All this took time with the day to day inflate/deflate sessions, like most practice of anything new. The I/D sessions were a bit of a challenge at first ...and uncomfortable at times. At over three months post-op, when scrotum is relaxed there is much of a three hump appearance (clover leaf) rather than the the two hump before that usually showed one lower than other. Now there is two humps, about even,one on each side of the center lower hump...actually looks nice.

If I feel around I can easily feel tubing that runs up, to right of shaft base, and on to some point in lower right abdomen connecting to reservoir. The first couple of weeks I could feel a little discomfort of release valve portion which has corners, although not real square, have a tad of an edge. Time just made the area less sensitive.

i was pretty much told to leave it all alone until my first scheduled appt seven weeks later. Other than occasionally locating pump, I did that. IMO, Morey's positioning of pump could be complemented by his use of the scrotal approach and horizontal incision.....again, my theory. b

AFAIK "ideal" placement of the pump is in the middle between right and left testicle, but rather in the background than in front of them. Might be right middle, left middle or very middle, when partitioning septum gets cut thru. Being at the margin is quite unusual. But sometimes individual conditions require deviations from the "norm".

That information was right on the button (sorry for the pun) for the info I needed. Mine initially felt like it was on the right margin, but is now in the center between the twins and slightly forward. That takes away some anxiety I had.
