Questions for those that already have an implant

Postby anotherguy » Tue Sep 02, 2014 4:01 am

I have some general questions for those that already have an implant.

How do you feel physically now that you have the implant compared to when you did not have the implant, but before you had any reason to get the implant (ED)?

What has your experience been like since having the implant?

Would you consider getting an implant if you did not have ED, but weren't exactly a stud?

The reason that I'm asking is because I had ED happen to me basically overnight because of an injury. Now I am healed, but I am not exactly back to being 100% or close enough to it on what I believe is a consistent enough basis and I already had my mind made up that I would get an implant at some point. Now that I am better, I am of course considering not having it done.

These are just some general questions that I have but if anyone wants to offer points of view regarding these questions, opinions, or just in general, feel free to do so.

Thanks

Did all my homework and picked whom I thought was one of the "high" volume doctors.

Many on this site have had a great experience. Unfortunately I, and a few others, did not. My first surgery with an inflatable came up bad. Very high pain and ultimately had to be removed after three and a half weeks and replaced with a semi-rigid. This type implant is very uncomfortable however some people have adapted to it over time. I am five weeks out from my second surgery and still have pain! Thanks to this site and the experiences shared by others I am doing the best I can to cope. They say it may take several months to feel better. First couple of weeks after the second surgery with all the trauma "down there" I thought I would go insane with the pain. I was really questioning if I did the right thing subjecting myself to this. As much as I liked my doctor he never adequately prepared me for this.

By putting in the semi-rigid device to keep things "open", there is still the option after all is healed to go back and try the inflatable again which is probably what I will do if this thing ever heals. Others have opted to try again also.

I don't want to discourage you because as I said many went through this and were very successful. My advise to you is think long and hard before you decide. Know what the potential downsides are and prepare yourself mentally. Do as much research as you can on the options, the doctors, hospitals and the risks.

I wish you the best of luck as you contemplate what to do. I will say this website provides the best support of anything you can consult and has been a blessing for me.

I am about 11 weeks post op and feel absolutely great in every respect. My only regret is that I didn't have this done 15 years ago. I can now do things that a 20 year old guy cannot do, even on his best day. My initial pain was very little, and recovery was easy. My wife is completely satisfied, and more engaged in our sexual relations than she has ever been. This is a great gift from God. advice: if you decide to go for an implant, CAREFULLY select your surgeon, and read the posts on FT. Ask questions. Good luck.

My doc was dr Paul Perito, coral gables fl. He has done more than 6000 implants, and it really shows. I would highly recommend him. I had a little pain the first night. After that, had it easy. He activated me 4 wks post op, and everything has been great. My wife is an M.D., and was with me the whole time. She was very impressed with dr perito's work. He provided me with personal cell ph and instructed that I call anytime with a prob. Also, on out of town patients. He wants a picture of the whole operative area once a week. I thank God for leading me to dr P. Great surgeon.

Blessings to all,

Charlie

hey anotherguy...welcome! i'm a newbie...six weeks on sept 8 and have not yet fully inflated but up to 9 pumps. no physical contact with a woman yet either.
here is what i think..its nothing close to my pre ED days all around except it does get VERY firm. i would not even consider it if anything else worked very much at all, which in my case nothng did.
i'm almost 2 inches shorter and very little feeling in the glans. the glans is cold most of he time. but it is early for me yet. i will see..but right now i questionmy decision.
probably not what you want to hear but its how i feel.

good luck!

Joe, sorry to hear about your troubles :( and I do want to hear about other guys' experiences, not just the good.

Charlie, hopefully everything turns out great for me also, I will probably go with Dr. Perito as well, Dr. Kramer.

Bill, I do want to hear other guys' honest opinions and experiences. It benefits all of us. From what I've read, those seem to be two of the biggest concerns and can you explain what exactly you mean when you say that you have very little feelings in your glans? Thanks

Hopefully there are more replies, good and bad.

Thank God for franktalk

Hi olivero. Yes, and I'm sure glad, too. The operative site caused no pain. As I previously reported, my wife removed stitches at 15 days post op. At this stage, I am hoping and praying that others just beginning this journey will come thru as well as I did. I can't begin to explain how this has changed my life.

Blessings,

Charlie
