I am considering an implant. I am on injections now with mixed results. I get an erection but not as hard as I would like. I sometimes loose part of that erection before my wife has reached her first orgasm then we have to start over. Very frustrating for her.
My concern is my age. I am 77. My uro kind of poo pooed that concern but I would still like to know if anyone on this forum has had the surgery at my age. I am in good health otherwise.
Your thoughts appreciated.

Re: Implant and Age
Charlie,
I wonder why your doc "poo-poohed" the idea of an implant. If you're still sexually active and hope to be for a while longer, why shouldn't you get an implant if you need one? In fact, you should get it ASAP - you never know what's going to happen. I struggled with ED for years, but when Viagra quit working nothing did. So we lived without sex for a couple of years until I decided to go ahead with the implant, which I received in 2008 at age 64. I wish I'd gotten it when I needed it, because we never got it on again. I had a stroke that killed my libido and we never used the implant (my wife had lost interest a long time ago). Time is not our friend - procrastination robbed me of years of intimacy, so if you need it go ahead and get it.

Re: Implant and Age
Thanks Dave. Your reply is much what I am thinking. Doesn't do a whole lot to calm my nerves but I am sure it will work out.
As far and the Dr.'s poo pooh I meant that he poo poohed the idea that I meant I might be too old.
I need to also add the we are still sexually active. The worst part is my wife is multi orgasmic and after she climaxes once the tri mix seems to subside a bit and then return.

Re: Implant and Age
Hi Charlie, Maybe I can give you some more info. I am 82, and 12 weeks post op. This is the best thing ever to happen. My wife is 70, and ansolutely thrilled. My doc had implanted a 92 old guy shortly before mine. my only regret is that i didnt have it done 30 years ago. it will absolutely change your life. Go for it. if i can answer any specific question for you, let me know, and i will be glad to help. I GOT MY LIFE BACK AND SO CAN YOU. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR WIFE.

Re: Implant and Age
My doctor said he implanted a 90 year old guy.
Everyone is different but assuming good health etc - go for it.
Good luck!

Re: Implant and Age
I am 74 and had surgery 6 weeks ago. the dr was supportive of the surgery and seems to have done a good job . I do have peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and im having difficulty pumping . the Dr has me soak in the bathtub once a day and pulling on the bulb , but it doesn't seem to help, but he said don't get discouraged . that's easy for him to say. I wonder if anyone else has this problem .
Re: Implant and Age
WOW! Thanks all of you for your help. I am now more convinced then ever I need to do this. First thing Monday I will be calling my URO.
Up to now he has been very supportive but has left it up to me. Just thinking, it would be a great Christmas gift to my wife. lol
