Hello, I'm a 34 yo suffering from ED for about 10 years now. Surgery is scheduled with Dr. Kramer for mid-November. I'm looking for recovery tips. I thought at one point I found a list of tips on here, but can't seem to find them anymore. I know some people have mentioned bags of frozen peas. Also, how much time should I schedule off of work? I work in a position where I can request which days off I want during the month and was able to coordinate 8 days off from the day of surgery. Any days off after that I'll need to call in sick for, or use FMLA. I work in a field that is a mix of periods of sedentary sitting and fast-paced walking. Anyhow, any tips or things you found useful in aiding and easing recover would be quite helpful for me and all future patients lurking this forum.
Thanks!

Re: Recovery Tips
I'm sure you'll have a great experience with Dr. Kramer. He did mine in 2008 and the whole process was flawless. All I needed for pain control was Tylenol and and ice packs (frozen peas would be fine, but ice is cheaper and you don't have to buy anything). You'll be given a list of discharge instructions when you leave the hospital - just follow those and you'll be fine. You should be walking comfortably in 4 or 5 days, mostly back to normal in about a month, and back in business in two or three months.
Good Luck!

Oh excellent! So the 8 days I gave myself after surgery might be enough time for me to comfortably get back to work?

Re: Recovery Tips
Possibly less than 5 days. Dr. Kramer did mine and I did take it easy for a day or so after the follow-up. And after the surgery I took it easy for a day or so but was completely mobile after that. If your job doesn't require any heavy lifting you should be fine.

Re: Recovery Tips
I would suggest requesting the FMLA as your information is protected under the HIPPA Laws and no one will know why you are out and you have up to 12 weeks of protected coverage. This way if you have any complications you'll be able to take the time you need to recuperate so that you will be able to use that dick of yours once again. Other than that, don't think that your surgery will leave you totally pain stricken afterwards, everyone's body heals and deals with pain differently, and pain is an obstacle to healing faster. Good luck and hope this helps somewhat with your impending situation.

Yea, I've contemplated calling out FMLA. I have it for another issue and absolutely love it. The company can't do a darn thing about an FMLA call. They sure do like to give grief for sick calls, though. Just sucks it's unpaid leave, though. But I may take advantage of it.

MUNKY_BUTTR,
I was implanted on Sept 15, 2014. I took off 5 days from work. I was up and moving the first day, I went home and took pain killers. The rest of the week I was home alone resting. I went to another appointment on Friday after surgery. I quit taking the strong pain killers on day 3. I cut the yard the Sunday after surgery, I was at 1 week. I was in pain because the riding lawn mower beat me up bad. I took Aleve and I was good. I went to work on day 8 Monday, I had to be careful sitting because of the stitches, you make the wrong move hurts like HELL! The only other problem is trying to sleep with the pump between your legs.
