Hello Guys,
I am John,60, and have had ED for a number of years. Began Viagra in the late 90's but its effectiveness lessened over time. I have been in a relationship with a younger (43) woman for almost seven years and she accomodated me and we have had an extremely satisfying sex life except for intercourse. Several attempts but once erect, it would fade. In January she stated she wanted to get @#^%$, her words. So after many hours of research and study, I went to see Paul Perito in Coral Gables. This past Friday, I had the surgery and everything seems to be going as expected. Moderate to severe discomfort, especially getting up and down. Having viewed many photos of swollen and bruised body parts, I was prepared for the worst. When my lady arrived to take me home the morning after, I still had not seen the site as the only mirror in a shared room was in public.
She pulled the curtain and had the first view and to say she was pleased would be an understatement. No bruising and very little swelling. Quite tender though. They had put me in a jock strap about 2 sizes too small and everything seemed crowded, but manageable.
Worst thing for me was recovery. I had chosen a spinal because as a brain injury specialist, I have treated many victims of anesthesia gone wrong. So, they stick in the needle and gave me Verced to relax, but I am still wide awake and I entertained the crew by telling them what my lady wanted to ask - when and what- she is anxious. Anyway, the talk was quite Frank and when I spoke to Perito the next day he said the staff had a good time. He told me after the surgery that was going to be very happy with the outcome. The next day he said he had gotten me 'a ton of length' back. I don't remember having a ton of length. But for now, when flaccid it is much more than it was; no more receding like a frightened turtle. Anyway, the worst part was lying totally paralyzed for nearly three hours with no feeling or sensation below mid abdomen. I found it frightening and somehow developed calf cramps.
See you on the blog.
Thanks to all that came before me, it really helped and if I can help anyone, please let me know.
John

Great story, John. Thanks for sharing. We're all cheering for an uneventful recovery and look forward to hearing more details as they unfold. As Dave said, hang out in the Chat Room. We have a blast and at the same time get some good work done about this preDICKament we share.
Rest well and try not to play with your new toy just yet.

Re: Our new toy
Thanks for the feedback. I returned to the doc yesterday for a follow up. Drove 90 minutes for a brief fondling and was told it looked good and next week the staples come out. The pain lessens daily, though still tender. Getting up and down and in and out of the car still hurts, but not as bad. Miss Holloway and I are anxious for lift off as we have always had a very active sex life, minus intercourse to completion. The day after surgery, she was very horny, as usual, and wanted to perform, but I said no for the first time in my life. She was cool so I pleasured her in my mother's bath room, it was crazy. She is the best.
woman ever.

Hello John. We met in chat I believe, or maybe you responded to by post. At any rate, I'm glad to make your acquaintance. I think we ought to coin our group of ED buddies the "Brotherhood of the Limp Dick".
You preceded me by 6 days with the implant. Similar to you, I had a spinal because the anesthetist was concerned about my sleep apnea, and because of my size (270 pounds). Not like you though, I have has considerable swelling and bruising, starting almost immediately. The doc was quite surprised with the swelling. He tried without success to deflate me the day after surgery. He was able to administer considerable pain, get me bleeding quite profusely, and probably cause more bruising and swelling. I just got my compression shorts on today in order to keep it pointed up.
Here's to a speedy recovery and a successful bionic penis for both of us!

Hi John,
I sounds as tho you may be able to have a recovery like I experienced, little pain, more like discomfort. I had slight swelling, NO bruising and was very happy with the whole process. My biggest issues were in and out of chairs, my Lazy Boy especially, and cars. I put a firm pillow on the recliner seat and that solved my problem ! If I can share with you advice it is this; take it easy and listen to your body and its signals. For the first time in my life, I really listened to the instructions given to me for post-op (at the Mayo Clinic where I was implanted), and they were spot on to a recovery that was very tolerable. It sounds like you have a very special lady who wants the best for you (and her!) and that that first time will be special and remembered. Good Luck my friend, keep us posted on how everything is going and PLEASE, ask any questions and solicit any advice you need and want. We all have some insight, and want to help. take care!
