Hello everyone. I'm Dave and I live in Almont, Michigan. I joined in November of 2010 but never really got on until March 2011. And I must say, I waited too long. What a great bunch!

I will be 60 in August. I've had erection issues all my life. Even as a teen, I was able to get a pretty good erection, but when I tried to do something with it the firmness would fade fast. About a year after Viagra hit the market, I talked my doctor into letting me try it. Initially, that was wonderful! For the first time ever, I could put it in and not feel it start to fade in minutes (or seconds). Unfortunately, this didn't work all that well for very long. So, I tried Levitra and Cialis also, about the same results.

So, I bought a VED. Now, that worked pretty well. I got a nice, fat erection. And the fat part seems to be permanent. I've had a noticable increase in girth. The downside was loss of sensation as the lack of oxygen desensitized the nerves. And, ejaculation wasn't all that great. But, it was an improvement.

December 2005, I became diabetic. I've done real well controlling it, but it does take its toll on the nerve endings. So, the combination of circumcision (which robs you of a large percentage of the most sensitive nerve endings), diabetes, and blood pressure and depression medications made the ability to ejaculate a real challenge. Using the VED and the constriction band just made it worse. Several times I just gave up, exhausted and frustrated, no ejaculation. Time to try something else.

So, injections. Caverject initially worked pretty well. But, I was getting severe pain during intercourse and after. So, the urologist put me on tri-mix. Finally, a good erection without pain, well almost anyway. But, my success rate was only about 50%. Talking with the pharmacist at the compounding pharmacy, he worked with my urologist and i moved up to quad mix. Better, but still not a sure thing. So, another conference with the pharmacist and he instructed me how to properly inject, something my urologist had not. So, armed with a constriction band from my VED, I followed his instructions and now have near 100% success. Some pain now and then, but what an erection! I'm going places that no man has gone before, if you know what I mean. The wife loves it. However, pain after, total loss of spontanaity, etc., I decided to proceed with an implant. St. Paddy's Day, March 17, 2011 is the day. I will be implanted with an AMS 700 LGX. I'm excited.

Dave,

Good luck! I am 60 and had mine done this past Friday (03/11/2011). and things are going well. I had the infrapubic method and have almost no bruising or swelling. I am using ice quite a bit and will see my doc tomorrow. Keep us posted.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, the open exchange of information, the good humor, and the good wishes. Its Tuesday and I'm at work, thought I'd see how many posts I had to my intro. I had my blood drawn and an EKG yesterday as a precursor to my admission bright and early on Thursday. No nerves yet, just looking forward to getting past the hard part and on to the fun part. I'm really not the nervous type, so I'm not anticipating any panic attacks. My wife had a scoping and draining of a cyst on her pancreas last Friday, so she has been recovering. Tonight, we hope to get out the quad mix, inject, take some pics and measurements, and then have some fun for the last time with my non-bionic member. I have a granddaughter, her other half, and her 2 children living with us, so these events take some planning and the proper alignment of the stars!

For those who asked, my procedure will be done at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. Dr. Randy Chudler is my urologist and surgeon. Neither is particularly famous, but I've had quite a bit of experience with HF, including the total reversal of my wife's stroke in December, along with her other medical issues, and I'm completely impressed with the care and expertise. Dr. Chudler came recommended to me many years ago by the physician's assistant I see as my G P. I had some conversation regarding him with the anesthesiologist that took care of my wife at HF last Friday, and he gave him an excellent recommendation. He apparently does a fair amount of these according to this guy. So, I'm comfortable with my decision and my caretakers.

We'll keep you posted!

All the best to you, Dave! How's the recovery going?

Recovery is going pretty well. I've been posting in the implant forum under LGX log.
