Tips from those who've been there

I'm scheduled for my implant on the 19th. The doctor has told me awhile back to use a vacuum pump several times a day to stretch and loosen up the penis. So far I have managed to get it 6+ inches while its in the vacuum tube. Flaccid I'm about 2 inches. Can't do much with 2 inches

Question is, when I get the implant and am able to pump it, do you think I'll get the same result ? Sure as hell hope so

What about buying a jock strap, does that help with support following surgery? If so, flexible or hard. I find out tomorrow if my surgery is next week.

As someone who is only two days post-op, I can vouch for the urinal. Not only is it difficult to maneuver a semi-erect penis when peeing, your control over the direction of your flow may be limited due to the manipulation of your urethra by the catheter. The wide opening of the urinal helps prevent the mess that accompanies directional mishaps. Also, you will probably emerge from the surgery in a jock strap. I did. If you do, then it probably wouldn't hurt to have your own supply. As hebrewhammer said though, it really depends on your surgeon. If your surgeon recommends them for support wear them. Mine recommends the strap. Following the advice of another forum brother, I've found it much more comfortable to wear the strap on the outside of my underwear. Against the skin, my strap pinched uncomfortably. If you do this make sure that the dressing which covers your incision remains in place.

I wish you the best in your post-op recovery. Wearing the jock strap over underware makes sense. As I read reviews of various brands, pinching was a frequent complaint. I'd imagine the pain from pinching would be greater after surgery.
I decided to wait until my surgeon gives me a recommendation rather than buy one now. How much pain/discomfort do you feel after surgery?

I don't understand why, but my surgery was put off for a minimum of a week maybe more. For some odd reason my surgeo is unable to reserve a time in the OR right now with the changes going on at UCSF. Looks like waiting for a date is the game plan. I'm annoyed because I spent the day getting all my pre surgery tests complete, had a hotel reservatio in San Francisco and arranged time off from work. I have to undo that, then do it again. Oh well.

The urinal has been a good friend. That was an excellent suggestion. Any tips/ideas about managing scrotal swelling and pain. Mine is the size of a grapefruit and it's really painful to walk, get up or sit. In other words I can't anything to make myself more comfortable.
