Man that pump is Hard!

Postby stkman » Tue Dec 30, 2014 9:35 pm

stkman here,
taking it easy for the holidays but I'm back. Went back to the Dr. on 29th to deflate pump after 17 days. Dr was very impressed with his work. Insicion almost completely healed but still tender. So I have a little ways to go there. I have a hematoma on the left side of the scrotum, so I'm dealing with that.

Now I have taken my time in Pee Wee's Playhouse and have located everything. The Dr. was very impressed with my knowledge of the pre-op/post op experience. I was feeling good until the actual inflation/deflation (cycling). Man, he squeezed the bulb and I tell you NASA had nothing on me. Copernicus, Galileo, the Hubble scope was right. There are other galaxies out there.

The Doc deflated the implant (I wanted to punch a hole in his head but hey, he had me by the balls, literally). He told me the hematoma was making things a little tender (no shit Sherlock) and I should just lay off pumpimg for a few days. Meanwhile he showed me techniques for pumping and said that that pump should soften over time. He also stated no sex for 6 weeks. That should bring me right up to Super Bowl weekend. Sex, Football, Food and Beer, what else does a man need? :D

Lastly I'm open to any suggestions that will help with with inflation/deflation and softening of the pump.

hey stkman,

i am five months out. like you i found the pump bulb very hard to compress but it has become much MUCH softer and easier to pump since my first inflation. i can even manage it with one hand now, at least til the tubes get too firm, then its back to the two handed method! repetition is key...IMHO...
ps...when you can manage a pump or three with one hand, its great for a little inflation during foreplay...almost like the old days of natural excitement. keep it "UP"...

I have an AMS700 implanted four months ago. The pump was very difficult to operate at first, but it did become easier with time. I find that using a two hand approach works best for me. I grasp the very base of the pump (where the three tubes enter the pump assembly) with one hand and use the thumb and forefinger to squeeze the bulb. It takes a bit of pressure to open the valve (you will feel it pop) and then the bulb becomes easier to compress. I think that part of the difficulty at the beginning is the learning process we all must go through. But I also think that the pump has to be "broken in." As time goes by you will find that it becomes easier to operate and you will be a lot more comfortable with it.

I have a question for you two (or anyone else who cares to reply) I also have the AMS 700 and not activated yet. My implant was Dec. 16, 2014. I am doing very well with healing. I can feel the pump bulb and also feel where the tubes enter the pump. Like yours the bulb is very hard. There is a part of me that says go ahead and activate it but the Dr. in his instructions when I left the hospital were to give it 6 weeks.
My question is I have heard that the first time it's activated its quite painful. Others say not that bad. What can I expect? Is there anything that you might suggest to make this final journey into bionic a little easier?

All I can tell you is that my experience was without pain. It required significant pressure to "pop" the valve and that can/probably will cause you some pressure discomfort, and the pumping, at least in the early days tends to be quite stiff. But, as you will hear repeatedly, things get much easier as time goes by and you gain experience. Do try using both hands. You need one to stabilize the base of the pump to keep from slipping, and the other hand to actually do the pumping.

I found that AMS has a page of instructions that were helpful. I had some difficulty getting the unit to drain at first (yeah, I was cheating and I was pumping before the surgeon cleared me. In fact, I had already done a full test flight before I was cleared for take off.) What AMS says is that if you can't get the button to function on the drain you grasp the two ends of the base and squeeze then for five or seven seconds and that will reset the valve. It worked for me.

Let me just tell you that I, along with virtually every other guy here, has only one regret, and that is that I didn't have the implant years before.

Hello all,
thanks for all the advice and encouragement. I was scared as hell when the pump "popped" the first time. I was afraid that it break and I didn't want to touch for awhile. Looking on this site and elsewhere explained that this was a natural part of the process. Wish my Dr would have warned me though. That's why it is so important to share.

Now I've become quite efficient with the two handed Near tubes, hand on bulb approach. I find it better that I strecthed the skin tight over the bulb so I can make sure that I'm not squeezing a real testical ( . It takes 5 tries to release air from implant but things are getting easier.

I notice that I have a lot more looseness with my skin even after I'm fully inflating. I would surmise this to be due to the circumference of tubing I was given. I will probably not be as thick as I was naturally or when I use a VED. Not going to complain though, I have a 7-11 penis now. (always open :D ).

I had AMS 700 back in October. Waited till healed and followed Dr's instructions. I have problems with scrotum tearing and bleeding with pumping Not conducive to any kind of sexual activity. I also can't get the cylinders to completely inflate. Doc says to keep working with it. Needless to say, I am not a happy camper. I am getting ready to call AMS to get any direction from them. Anybody have any comments or suggestions?

I find out tomorrow just how hard it is to pump it up. AMS700 . Frankly because of some of the things I have read on this forum I seem to have more apprehennsion about this pumping thing then I had about the surgery itself. I'll take a pain pill tomorrow and bit the bullet and git her done.

Had my 2nd AMS 700 implanted on October 26,2014 at UCSF (The 1st was installed 3/15/14 by a Dr. with a license to practice...and I think he was practicing on me :-\ ). Long story short, 2nd implant pump doesn't get that 'Pop' on the first pump...although, the implant does get erect. Only got the 'Pop' in the Doctor's office the first time...and only got the deflating 'Turbulence' in the tubes feeling that first time. Coming up on 3 1/2 Months post 2nd surgery and the pump is still hard to pump. The deflate button, which is normally flat on top, feels like a curved wire is breaking through the top. I don't get that deflate 'Turbulence' but the implant seems to go simi-erect. AMS's phone assistance lady won't discuss 'Medical' stuff with you, refers you to your doctor, and provides no helpful information. Anyone else having deflate button problems. Doctors only seem to know how to put them in, or take them out... Do you think it might be time to get 'My People' (Attorneys) to talk to 'Their People'... or has anyone an informal route to have AMS resolve problem issues with out outside involvement. Any Deflate Button issue experience would be appreciated.

PS: Did anyone who had a recent implant get the information 'Wallet Card' with their SN Number on it? My Doc says they're not issuing SN's or cards anymore, Really?
