How many times a week do you attempt it...
How many times a week do you attempt it...
How many times a week do you attempt sex or masturbation? Some of this site state their doctor says use it or lose it. I wonder if you try more or less since the ole prostate was removed. I have averaged about 2 or 3 times a week and wondered what others think.

Re: How many times a week do you attempt it...
My surgeon did not encourage me to do anything post-op, which was six months ago. No pills, no pumps, just restful healing. It is very disturbing for me to read about all the other guys whose doctors have them doing all kinds of things to get the blood flowing. I have an appointment with him at the end of April and I plan on discussing this matter with him. During the recovery period I have experiemented with a quarter or half of the blue pill (generic) on my own, without the doc's approval. Nothing. However, yesterday I tried a whole pill on a completely empty stomach and to my amazement and surprise, there was little johnny becoming big, bad john if you get my drift. I celebrated by going three times, solo. Once I get the full go-ahead from the surgeon, I'll reintroduce big, bad john to my lovely wife, who has been extraordinarilly patient.

You lucky man! I am so anxious to have an implant.

My first attempt post RP was the second day after the catheter was out (and penis was like an over cooked a wet noodle!). And, determined to exercise it back to health, I average at least once a day (some days not, some days more than once). I also think a couple of times a week should be good for penile health.
Regarding not having any penile rehab for six months after surgery, call my doctor today and tell him you want to start taking meds (especially since they worked for you). Call right now! Don't wait! You need to get that blood flowing to your penile tissue to ensure it stays healthy!

I was about 6 mohths before the doctor put me on meds. He said, I want you to have sex. I said you are a great doctor!! However, it has been slow going for about 2 years. A couple of weeks ago I could maintain and erection for several minutes. This past week has not been as good for me. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Thomas, thanks for the concern. Believe me, I get it! It concerns me too that I read all these guys doing all these different penis rehab things, but I am not. I specifically asked my surgeon about it and he said the research is not conclusive on the subject. He has done over 1,200 da vinci robotic surgeries so he certainly has a large base to work with. I looked in PubMed and I have to agree with him. The methods and conclusions are all over the place, with no absolute conclusive postive results. Do you know of any research that clears up the matter of penis rehab after RP? I totally agree with you that it makes common sense to start. That is why I took the pill the other day. Thanks for your input, it really is appreciated.
Rob, what kind of meds did your doctor put you on? How much and how often do you take the meds? Thanks.

One of the biggest challenges for all of us PCa patients is that the medical community is at odds with itself, and that leaves us with tough decisions. Regarding studies whether meds help or not? Well, I'm sure we can find studies that support both points of view; hence, the non-conclusiveness! But I never saw a study that said it hurt your recovery, so why not! Especially if you have proof that it worked for you. Ask your doctor, "why not" subscribe meds for you? Even if it doesn't help in the recovery, wouldn't it be great to have erections now, even if they are med induced? That's my life right now and I thank the heavens that I have it.

Red Nighthawk, the doctor put me on 25m viagra a night. In addition, I take 20m of cialis 2 times a week. When I have sex, I will take 50 or 100m of viagra. I do not have the erection I had but orgasms are great. I think some of mine issues may be worrying too much about cancer. I am sure the stress of thinking my cancer may return definitely doesn't help my erections. I guess I need some more positive thinking or talking more about it to someone.
