Initial Uro Visit

Postby travel » Sat Jul 25, 2015 2:16 am

I've arrived at the point where i'm going to discuss an implant with my doc. Soon. Is there anything I should be doing, questions i should be asking about getting this done. I'm old.....at least I consider myself old...65. Am i being foolish at my age in considering an implant? I have no prostate issues going on that i know of. Things here just now working as I wish they were. Wife not happy. Any thoughts from folks in my situation greatly appreciated.

First, you're not "too old" to consider an implant. If you are no longer able to achieve or maintain a viable erection, an implant will definitely take care of the problem. There are other treatments to consider first, though. There are pills, vacuum pumps and injections, any of which might help, assuming you haven't tried them already. If you decide that the implant is the best alternative, then start doing your homework and research doctors that perform the surgery. Implants are a "last resort" option, and you want to make sure you're in good, experienced hands.

Thanks for your input. I've tried all the other things, pills, needles, muse, Edex, etc. One qustion...if you've had an implant, would you do it again? How successful was it for you?

I would most definitely do it again, it has been very successful. The first 6-8 weeks, I'll admit, were a bit challenging, but the pain lessened daily, and now, I barely know it's there, that is until I want an erection, and can have it as hard and for however long as I want it.

O.K. thanks for the info. I've got a bigf decision coming up. I've done some homework, but need to do more from those who've had it done. Thanks again
