Having been “lurking” around this forum for 6 months, thought it was time to join up. This forum is an invaluable source of information and men’s experiences with ED. My heartfelt thanks to the people that keep it running!!
I am a married (30 years) 64 yo living on Vancouver Island in BC. Fortunately for me, my troubles have not been as difficult as some on here. I have never had to deal with injury or prostate troubles (other than BPH) - just your run-of-the-mill ED. Been gradually losing it for 3 years. Pills worked for up until about 18 months ago. Testosterone level is good. A year ago I started Trimix injections. Never had much luck- the little feller got a bit chubby but not enough for penetration. Uro then prescribed “double strength” trimix consisting of 70 mcg alprostadil, 25 mg papaverine and 1 mg of phentolamine per ml. Used up to .8 ml with not much improvement so he suggested I stop there. Most likely culprit is a venous leak so an implant was suggested. I agreed and he put me “on the list”. That was a 8 months ago. The surgery would be covered 100% under the provincial medical plan but it is considered elective surgery- hence the long wait. And this doc is relatively new at the implant biz and has done only a dozen or so, which makes me somewhat apprehensive. I am not aware of any “high volume” surgeons any closer (Seattle or Portland) so as a result of all this I’m considering contacting Dr Karpman at El Camino Urology in Mountain View, California. It will likely cost me a small fortune- about US$25k after taking into account the lousy exchange rate of the Canadian dollar right now, but from what I’ve read here I gather he is a top notch surgeon. If any of you have any suggestions about closer doctors or more comments about your experiences with Dr Karpman I’d like to hear them.
Anyway, thats my intro spiel- thanks a load (pun intended) for reading!!
