Tri Mix starting dosage
Diabetic with increasing ED over 15 years due to past history of high BG levels (under control now due to insulin pump) and neropothy. Viagra dosage is up to 100 mg which now only generates a 75 % erection and requires tight constriction to bring it up to 90% and maintain it for more than 5 - 10 minutes. Uro is pushing for implant but I would prefer to try TriMix before taking the final step. I have an appointment to go back in two months to be trained and started on TriMix. Uro rightfully wants to start at low dosage. I don't want to waste too much time building up to the appropriate level so I am looking for recommendations on a good but safe starting dosage based on my history and ED severity? I will of course discuss any recommendations with the Uro.

Dear DT,
First of all, I would encourage you not to wait 2 months before trying the trimix injections. If your experience is anything like mine, you'll make wood like you haven't seen in at least 15 years, so why wait? Just saying.
Secondly, only a urologist with some measure of experience with ED and, specifically, trimix injections, is qualified to recommend a starting dosage. Whatever your doc recommends will be based on everything he knows about your case. Here's the deal. Whatever dosage he/she starts with, the second injection will be up to you. You can make it higher or lower based on what happens that first time. And the second injection will take place only 2 days after the first one. So you really don't have long to wait to adjust the dosage. My guess is that the uro will give you more than enough happy juice to make you hard, but not enough to require him/her to meet you at the emergency room 6 hours later.
My experience went like this. Uro started me on 30 units = 0.3 ml = 0.3 cc. (It will also help if you grasp the dosage lingo properly. Don't say you used 30 cc. That's enough for 100 drunk frat guys.) That first inejction brought tears to my eyes--wood like I hadn't seen in decades. Then Little Spike stayed rock hard for about 3 hours and started deflating slowly after that. In fact, it took over 8 hours before I could wear pants comfortably. Obviously, that first dosage was too much. I suspect the doc figured it would be--he just wanted to make sure I got some good results. From that 30 units, I experimented for about a momth until I settled in at 6 units or 0.06 ml or 0.06 cc. That's a pretty small dosage, but then again, I don't call him "Little" Spike or "Little" Gregory" for nothing. lol Your preferred dose will be something you figure out on your own and oh what fun you'll have experimenting.
I commend you on not jumping to the implant without trying injections first. Less invasive is always better than more invasive. Good luck and best wishes for hard times. Keep us posted as you can.

Re: Tri Mix starting dosage
Greg gave you good advice...don't wait that long. And only a uro can start you out with what he knows is appropriate for your situation. I had to get a couple different mixes over time to get it right. My first injection in the docs office was a small dose...he just wanted to see if it would work, but not hard enough to break down the door. I can't tell you what it was like to have an erection that first time, and every time since, really. My uro also instructed me to use 30 units, which is what i'm using today. I have 20-30-2 PGE/PAP/PHENT which are Prostaglandin E1, Papaverine and Phentolamin. That mix is just perfect for me...no ache, nothing. I will get about a 3 hour hardon with that, give or take. The amount you use will affect both hardness and longevity. Bottom line is you don't wanna go over four hours, as previously stated. Until you know how long your erection will last, be sure not to fall to sleep before it starts getting soft. If it goes over 4 hours but is softening, you're OK. It's only if you're still rock solid at four hours that you need to seek medical help. for what it's worth, i've never had one last that long. That's why you start low and work your way up.
When I first started, it was using a cock ring to restrict blood loss, but don't need it now. Not sure why, but i'm glad.
Good luck and welcome to the hard cock cafe.

Re: Tri Mix starting dosage
Thanks guys. I appreciate the information. I will now be able to discuss dosage with the Uro from a knowledgeable position. As I mentioned to Greg in a pm, my delay is a result of a vitrectomy and retina peel last Thursday. Saw the surgeon today and he said every thing looks good. I have another appointment next Tuesday and if everything is still going well, I will call the Uro to move up my appointment. My excitement is starting to overcome my trepidation. Thanks again

I am in a very simular boat. My Uro ordered a Doppler/Ultrasound test before he will script the TriMix.
He wants to measure the venous blood loss. Yours may want to do that test also. Just trying to give you a heads up. The other guys gave you great advice. Antelope gave me the courage to talk to my Uro. Now I just need to show patience. The test isn't scheduled unto 7/20. I am on a waiting for a cancellation list. I guess the people doing the test are very busy. It's either that or there are not enough people qualified to preform it. Good luck. Please keep us posted.
I would be very interestd in what the injection meds cost you.
Thanks, Dennis

Re: Tri Mix starting dosage
Hi dt, I've only been on injections for about 1 month and when I think of all that I missed since my RP in November 2008, it almost makes me weep. I did the pills, the pump, and Muse, but I didn't like the idea of needles entering my body, especially there. My formula is a little different from most of the guys here, I don't have the Papaverine, just PGE1 and Phen. I use a 31 gauge 5/16 diabetic syringe & now that I've tried it, I've had mosquito bites that hurt more than the shots. I started out at 5 units (.05ml) and went up by 2 1/2 each time until it started working well. I got up to 20 before I had my 1st really good erection but since that 1st one, I've been cutting back to find the minimum that still works. I'm now down to 15 and that seems to be about the best for me.
I see you are a pumper, that's good. I've learned it's a lot easier to hit the right spot with the needle if you plump up some with a VED 1st.
The best advice I can give you is run, do not walk, to your uro. Follow his/her instructions and you'll be laying pipe like you were 19 again in no time.
Keep us posted about your progress,
Lou
