I am a 62 year old guy who has had moderate ED for probably at least 25 years. I finally decided to address the issue (again) along with a frequent urination issue I have had for better than 2 years.
I have an enlarged prostate with no cancer (PSA .7) and the urologist prescribed finasteride, which I have been on for just over a month.
Also, since the pills never really worked satisfactorily for me, he tried 28 units in the office of 30/1/10 trimix. I had a rock hard erection for 4 hours and began to panic. So, not wanting to go to the hospital, I employed every method described on the internet to bring it down which I slowly did.
Upon receiving my trimix prescription, I tried 10 units (1/10 ml) and, again had a rock hard erection for 2 hours, at which time I then began the same antidote procedure as the first time and by 4 hours, it began to soften.
Yesterday, I tried 5 units and although it took a little longer to happen, I got a semi hard erection that hardened well into a full erection with manual stimulation. It actually felt more normal than the others. The other seemed overly hard to a point where there seemed to be less sensation.
After about an hour, yesterdays erection subsided on its own.
I am thinking that maybe 6 or 7 units might be the perfect dose.
Also as the trimix ages somewhat I will have to monitor whether it will tend to lose some potency and the dose may have to go up. I believe there can be many variables that I must familiarize myself with.
QUESTION.. The 10 ml vial that I received from the pharmacy was only slightly more than half, or at most, 2/3 full. Is this typical or could I have been shorted?

Re: New guy
in answer to the vial question, yes it will not be to the top. at least all that i have received are that way. either way for you though, 10ml will last a LONG time.
you should keep it in the freezer. that should allow it to last 4-6months. take it out and prepare 3-4 doses or whatever you may expect to use over a couple weeks.
then put it back in the freezer. be sure it fully thaws each time before filling a syringe.

Thank you, tarheelgwb.
Will do, but can you tell me why they have "do not freeze" on the label?

Hello stayingyoung! I'm also 62 years old and have been taking trimix for almost 2 years. I have type 2 diabetes which is causing my ED. I have had ED for 20 yer=
I have stocked up on trimix and have kept it in the freezer for 1 year with no appreciable degrading of the mixture. I take .12 ml of the weakest version of trimix. There's no reason that I can discern as to why they would not want you to freeze it, find another compounding pharmacy and go from there.
I have had ED for going on 20 years.
What part of the country do you live in? I live in the high country of northern Arizona. So I have to go to either Las Vegas or Phoenix, with LV being closer.

Thank you Rickey.
I am in New York on Long Island and the compounding pharmacy is about 70 miles away. It is the one my urologist uses and he forwarded the prescription directly to them. They charge 120.00 for a 10 ml vial of 30/1/10 trimix with 30 syringes and alcohol swabs, plus 15.00 Fed Ex overnight shipping (135.00 total cost).
There is no rhyme nor reason why I have had the ED (mostly in the form of maintaining rather than getting, although more recently "getting" has become an issue too), since I have no real medical issues relative to ED and have always been, and am now, very physically fit.
In past years, I have had testosterone injections (15 years ago due to low T levels), yohimbe prescriptions, Muse, and all the current ED medications, all under a urologist and endocrinologists watch and nothing worked satisfactorily. I stopped the testosterone injections for several years but as a result of my GP's recommendation because of continued low T, I went on the Testim gel 1% topical and have been on it for almost 4 years, with blood tests every 4 months to monitor. My levels have been very good (actually slightly high, but within range for my age) during the entire time, but it did not give me any significant improvement in the ED.
I do wonder, however, if the testosterone replacement therapy might have contributed to my BHP and hence, frequent urge to urinate with weak stream.
So, there are no definitive answers other than the results with the injections are like none I have had before, in that they are amazing.
I feel like by using them I can get back, also, some of my confidence, and help eliminate that psychological fear of failure that I believe contributed to a worsening of the ED problem.
I am happy that I located this forum and I am happy to share my story and hear of others. It is comforting and enlightening.

Re: New guy
I tried 5 units again on the other side (left side) where I had the 4 hour + erection with 10 units 4 days ago.
2 days ago when I injected 5 units on the right side, I had a softer, 1 hour erection, and it took longer initially to kick in after I injected.
The only difference I can think of is that this time I had taken 5 mg of tadalifil (Cialis) about 6 hours prior to the injection.
I am wondering if it makes a difference in reaction based on the side of injection or if the tadalifil acted synergistically with the injection?
I know I will get the answers with more experimentation but in the meantime am wondering if anyone has any feedback.
I guess my next injection will be on the right side with 5 units and taking 5 mg tadalifil 6 hours prior and seeing if I still get the lesser reaction as I did before.
I read that if you are taking 5 mg tadalifil for BPH, you can continue that dosage with the injections. Maybe it is necessary to down the injection dosage also?
Damn it's tough being a man. I guess the only thing tougher is being a woman. LOL

Re: New guy
Hi,
I'm starting trimix injections on Monday. I'm excited and terrified at the same time. No reason for ED but yet its here. I found out a year ago I have Prostate Cancer however it is very slow and in low volume so just going to monitor its progress until it needs to be addressed. Doc says maybe never. I'm very apprehensive but hoping this works on a low dose without any scar tissue. Any thoughts?

Stayin,
The only reason I can think of for "No Freeze" is that there is a chance that the Papaverine will precipitate out as crystals. If you are not looking closely you might not even notice and then would be using a greatly reduced strength mixture. Also it can be a devil to get the crystals to dissolve again .. especially if they are big crystals. Very unlikely to happen but something to check whenever you thaw out the vial.
One thing to do is to draw out ten or 20 syringes from the vial (enough for a month or two ) and then freeze both the syringes and the vial. The syringe can be thawed in a few minutes.
And you won't be thawing and freezing the vial very much.

Thanks, Jim
I am wondering why I would freeze the syringes if I were going to use them before the expiration date of the trimix. I can understand prolonging the vial by freezing after preparing a number of syringes for use within the shelf life period, but don't know why I should freeze the syringes if they are to be used before such date.

Re: New guy
Gbutler.... First off I need to clarify my "units" to ml conversion. 1 unit is 1/10 ml. The insulin syringe is 100 units which is 1ml.
My first injection was 28 units(.28 ml in the Urologists office. Erection lasted too long. Second injection was 10 units (.10ml) on my own. Erection lasted too long. Third and forth injection was 5 units (.05 ml) on either side. Erection lasted too long but I seem to have the more extreme results on the left side as far as erection initiation and duration.
Today I used only 3 units (.03 ml) on the left side which seems to be the more sensitive side(side seeming more responsive to achieve and maintain). It worked perfectly providing an erection within 10 minutes and lasting almost 2 hours.
Next time I will try the 3 units on the right side and see how that goes. I may wind up needing a little higher dose when injecting on the right side. It does take trial and error and of course everyone is different in their response.
Also, I am taking 5mg of tadalifil (Cialis generic) daily which otherwise had no good effect on my ED before the injections.
Anyway, be optimistic. As far as I am concerned, the injections are a miracle. and I regret not having given them a try 20 years ago, although they were never suggested to me by any doctor (shame on them).
It was just what I needed and the injections really don't hurt, it is fairly convenient, seemingly foolproof (no worry about getting or maintaining the erection when it is desired taking the frustration and fear of failure out of the equation and bringing back your confidence, and in my case not that expensive even at 5 units per dose it's 200 doses per 10 ml vial of which I pay 135.00 with shipping. That is less than 1.00 per dose.
Good luck and let me know how you make out.
