What is Venous leakage

Postby nwindmalesub » Sun Jan 03, 2016 10:19 am

I am a 62 year old very horny man who had Robotic surgery in April of 2011. The Doctor says my nerves were spared. I have used Cialis and Viagra that only barely work. Not a god Hospital patient and not considering a implant, but I so miss having sex. I read about a liquid that works, but said something about Venous leakage, what is that? Also looking for local friends to discuss with.

I'm also 62, and had venous leakage. Simply put, it means your penis will not retain the blood sufficient to maintain an erection. My doc put it bluntly, saying "You need an implant." Had it done 9 months ago, and I love it. Works great and I am back to loving sex again. Don't rule it out.

Venous leak is something that is diagnosed by a doppler ultrasound. You go to the urologist, lie down, take off your pants, he pokes a needle in your penis (something like papaverine) which is suppose to give you an erection whether you are stimulated or not. Then, the doctor will start putting some probes, tracing the veins on your penis. There will be a nurse technician on a computer beside you taking orders from the doctor in regards to what position the probes on your penis are going.

The doctor is measuring your "systolic (inbound)" and diastolic (outbound) velocities, from the two major veins on your penis. Anything less then 25 cm per second of inbound bloodflow is considered artery disease, or venous insufficiency; anything over 5 cm per second of diastolic outbound velocity is considered leaky. So if more blood leaves then remains, a venous leak ensues.

The doppler is not a conclusive way to diagnosis venous leak but is a good tool nonetheless. You can use it to check for scar tissue which is another culprit of venous leak.

For a true diagnosis, one would need a cavernosopgraphy performed.
31 Years old. ED since I was 15/16. Diagnosed with hypogonadism/venous leak at 31. On Clomid/Arimidex mix for HRT. Cured for a week then it stopped. In process to find a solution. Lifelong nightmare but I waited a decade + to get help.

You got some good info on what Venous Leakage is and how it is diagnosed with tests. I had VL, went through all the testing described above. I could use Cialis and get an erection but could not maintain it. After my tests my doctor told me I only had one option an IPP.
Good luck.

With the Doppler, it's controversial because some people say it is meant to be a maximal stimulation test. So some will let you watch porn, others say massage it. You have to remember how awkward the situation is. Simply sticking a needle in and injecting may not overcome some people's anxiety.
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.
