The problem I have seems to be not so much one of inflation, but of deflation.
Stimulus (sometimes enhanced with medication) produces an erection very close to the size of my youth, albeit not so robust nor as vertical (when I am standing) as then.
Withdrawal of stimulation results in nearly immediate collapse.
However, sufficient stimulation to maintain the erection very quickly crosses the threshold of orgasm. Far less than a full minute. So, I have a choice. Let it collapse or allow an orgasm, and collapse.
This implies (to my untrained medical mind) that my problem is less one of blood inflow, but of inadequate control of outflow.
When I was young, it took a long time for an existing erection to go down without an orgasm. (On many occasions, I had to wait a considerable time for my erection to go down before being able to urinate.) Now, mine can go down even during coitus.
Does this give a clue as to any remedy other than an implant, cock (constriction) ring or vacuum pump?
(I have just today read the term "Venous Leakage" for the first time today. But bear with me, I composed this post before I read about VL.)

Hi Lost Sheep, OK details a bit vague, but ED not being able to get an erection good enough for sex, so is the you?
So it could be a venous leak or it could be just psychological, have you ever masturbated to porn? great way to lose your erections paired up with over masturbation, which means in doing that its shut down your sexual receptors, hence you can maintain an erection, for that just take a long break of no masturbation or any sexual contact and no porn, try 8 weeks and see how that goes.
Good Luck

Thanks for the thoughts, Nowhard.
I thought 30 years ago that it might have been psychological, but I think not now. I don't masturbate much at all. Maybe once a month. Considering that I maybe should do it more so I don't lose the elasticity in my tissues. I have viewed porn maybe a dozen times in my life. Mostly for the curiosity and to laugh (or groan) at the acting. I don't condemn it but I don't seek it out. I did used to look at my Dad's Playboy magazines and read the letters in another mag (can't remember the name-Hustler maybe?), but that was decades ago.
I had heard of venous leak before but had no idea what it was, or even that it could have something to do with ED. I always thought it might be arterial blockage. But now I think it is V.L. My self-diagnosis will probably be confirmed by a doppler sonogram (or something like that) when I finally get to a urologist. We will see.
