Do I have a choice on AMS700CX or AMS700LGX
Hey guys. I'm new and about to have an implant. The way my doctor explained it to me is that up to a certain size gets the CX and anything larger than that gets the LGX. For example: up to 5 or 6 inches gets the CX and anything longer would have to get the LGX. He acts like its not an option, it has to be that way. Is that true?

Steve:
Please re-post under the "Implants" section of this Forum. It may well get you a faster response.
But, more importantly welcome to FrankTalk. This is a good place and you will find lots of support and encouragement here. I am not bionic so I've not had to go thru that process. I understand that a guy over 7" hard will most likely get a Titan. As you re-post you might add, if you feel comfortable, as to why you are getting an implant. The different reasons may affect the implant decision. Both models you mention are with the same brand as I remember.
Questions such as have you had shrinkage ie, like myself with PCa and surgery, or etc. Might help a fellow bionic respond better. There are also a number of things for exercises before surgery to enhance the length and get you the best it can be. Also feel free to go thu the Implant section and review some of the threads. A number of guys have been amazingly open about their process and some have even included pics. Please contact any of them thru private message for assistance. What you will find as you read is that there is great happiness with the new bionic member so you are headed for a nice hard future.
Best wishes and keep all of us posted as you get close to surgery. Positive thoughts and Karma will head your way to speed the journey from everyone here!!
Again Welcome! If there is anything I can do to assist please let me know.
Regards,
Dick

Re: Do I have a choice on AMS700CX or AMS700LGX
I contacted American Medical Systems today and was told that the doctor can custom fit an AMS 700 CX or LGX to any length penis by using different length rear tip extenders. If what my doctor told me is correct, then once you are measured and custom fit with the implant, it will not really extend you any longer than you already are. If this is true, then why do they even make an AMS 700 LGX? Is he telling the truth? If he is telling the truth, then is the AMS 700 LGX just a marketing strategy to sell more AMS prosthesis?

Steve:
This question is too technical for me. Please send Paul a PM and ask- he can probably assist. Remember, seeking an implant is a tough and long decision so there will be little reason to do a model for marketing. Selling "more" implants is probably only related to guys who have no other good alternative for an active hard sexual experience. The surgery is major and as you read quite do-able; but hardly elective. We have guys here with both the CX and the LGX- they all seem very happy! It is the doc's judgment in consultation with the patient. Guys say the LGX usually grows over time IF you do the exercises and all. Again, rehab can be fun!!
Everyone, though, seems to focus on the surgeon, his/her experience, number done and most important- do you like them and are willing to put that all-important-body-part in their hands while you sleep. . . .
Hope this helps as you navigate the path towards your decision. Take your time as it is a big decision. There is also a very good medical center in St Louis where one of our own had his implant done. You do have choice.

Dick,
Thank you so much for helping me to think about the full picture of the experience instead of just the outcome that I am so desperately wanting and needing. Every time someone else responds it helps me to relax and think about this very important decision process. Thanks to everyone!
Sincerely,
Steve

Posting in the implant area will definately get more coverage! I'm one of the guys who has posted my whole journey including pictures in the implant section. Look for LGX Log. You can even google it and it will take you straight to it! (I'm more famous than I thought, lol). Anyway, my understanding is the LGX has the capability of growth in length as well as girth. The CX will not grow in length. There might be certain conditions that would sway your doctor to the CX, but most AMS implants now are the LGX. Remember, it will not grow any more than your body will let it. So, if you are a cancer survivor, for instance, who has lost some length (most have), the LGX should gradually help you regain some. Loss of length is a big fear with most guys considering an implant. Unless one is well endowed, they are usually reluctant to give up anything. Loss with the LGX seems to be minimal, most report 1/4 to 1/2 inch in my research, while other types lose an additional 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Some guys maintain their length, a very few actually grow. Most growth stories I hear are cancer survivors, and they are comparing to their post cancer length, not their original length before cancer. In my case, I have not had cancer, and I am where I was before the implant, though not at my all time maximum, which was about 1/2 inch longer. The nice part is, because it is so firm, it actually feels bigger to my wife than it ever did, even in length. I have picked up about 1/2 inch post surgery, maybe more. I haven't measured in a while.
I told my doc before surgery, "don't short change me!" He smiled, and I have to say I don't think he did.

Well it does seem that I have a choice after all. I went to see Dr. Milam and Todd at Vanderbilt and they said you can have either one installed and it doesn't matter how long you are. I have scheduled my surgery on Sept, 21st to have the AMS 700 LGX. Yes that's only 3 days from now. I am so excited to finally be having the surgery!

Re: Do I have a choice on AMS700CX or AMS700LGX
Well guys I had my AMS 700 LGX implant 2 weeks ago today and I have to say that I have been surprised at how much pain that I have gone through. Due to the 43 prior surgeries that I went through before the implant, I had a lot of scar tissue at the site of where the incision should be for the procedure. Therefore, Dr. Milam had to enter at a different location than the normal incision site to implant the reservoir. I am assuming that a lot of my pain was because of this, but I don't feel it all was. However, I am so happy to have it behind me and am ready to get the recovery behind me.
