I didn't even know what a prostate was till I turned 50 and had my first PSA. Penis, testicles, bladder, yes. But what in the world is a prostate?? (And, btw, my PSA etc. reviewed by my excellent urologist saved my life.)

Hi David, There is a bit on the NHS site to do with PSA saying the test does let some through so its not all that its paid up to be, me I'm 69 and never had the test, for either blood or a DRE, we don't get them in the UK unless you ask for one, was going to have it done last year but ended back in Greece, a place I love but my dear wife has gone off it, because of some bad house sitters, I'm now house sitting my own house with my two dogs who do love it here, we can walk for hours and never see anyone, sorry I digress.
So anyway glad your guy caught it in time then, but this new way when its up and going should also save more lives and do away with the PSA test, the last so called house sitter we had here, and sent him away, has prostate problem cant piss and when he does takes forever told him what his problem was and he said his last PSA was spot on, so sent him the link to what the NHS was saying he said it was all bollocks? even if its benign it can be shrunk and it works.

My urologist suggest that I take Tamsulosin to assist in my urinating.
I took it for around a year and decided maybe I didn't need it.
Big mistake; it took me forever to get my stream going and wasn't a nice experience.
As my prescription had run out, I took about 12mg Viagra and it did help each day til I got the refill.
I guess I'm stuck using it til I get the prostate fixed someday.

Hi Tomas if its benign then you could have it shrunk with TUNA not the fish, read the link below, there's a guy on here had it done, thinks its the best thing he's ever had and backed by his wife.

So see if you think it would help you. OK

I couldn't get the link to work, but found this one on the Johns Hopkins site:
https://www.healthafter50.com/prostate/ ... ur-options
I actually lived about a mile from Johns Hopkins University for 21 years.
I'm not ready for any kind of aggressive prostate reduction, but have tried the Saw Palmetto with zero effect.

Wow, that's interesting to hear.
We have a Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale not too far from where I live.
I'll keep that option in mind if things get worse.
Thanks for posting it.

Re: Prostate cancer, something new coming
I am headed for a fusion biopsy (computer fusion of my recent MRIs with real time ultrasound) whereby biopsy samples can be taken from a very precise location of a suspected tumor.
If tumor is small and alone, all this precision location can be used to ablate just the tumor, with taking out the whole prostate. It's called focal ablation.
Anyone have experience with this?
