I can relate. When I got my implant, it was difficult in inflate. Actually, I was wishing I could use a players on it.
After awhile, it will work fine.
My was done in 2008 and is working fine.

Do you mean "pliers"?

I read that using a very smooth spoon to back up your fingers on one side of the pump makes inflating easier.

The spoon is a new idea. I may just give that a try. I am having a hard time gripping the pump right now until more tissue shrinks. I can deflate, but the deflate button isn't clearly defined. I have however found the button, so that's good. It's also a bit tough because I'm really still sore around the incision and surgery points. He did a lot of work on me that will take more time to heal.

Caution. No sharp edges, only rounded surfaces, like a wooden cooking spoon. You might even sandpaper it smoother or get a plastic very smooth spoon.

Also be caeful that you ensure there are no sharp corners on the pump inside you that press against any firm spoon surface. Pressure cuts on your insides would be bad. So proceed gently.

I read the spoon idea on another thread on this forum and the poster was not overly graphic and I may not remember everything he said. I took away the impression that the greatest advantage of the spoon was that it helped keep the bulb in place under his operating fingers. He said nothing I recall about the valve or buttons.

I tried the spoon and it didn't do much for me. I may end up going back to Nashville and having one of the doctors do the inflation. A couple pain pills first, no doubt. I also plan to keep plugging away morning and night to see if I get lucky here. Who knows. All I can do is try.

Hard for me to imagine the spoons being successful. hard to keep 2 more components aligned and round on round does not sound like a scenario for efficient pumping a jumpy ball. At one point on 2-3 occasions, I pulled my pump out,laid the bulb portion on the edge of the vanity, held it with one hand and pushed down on it with the other. A square corner vanity will NOT due ( laminate) and one with a larger radius will not either. It was not as efficient as thumb and finger pumping but it allowed me to put enough pressure on it to do the job when it was beyond difficult to pump.

Nobody tells you this but once you get some fluid in the cylinder, every squeeze on the bulb, you have to put out more pressure than the tension of your cavernosa is squeezing back at you. The cylinders are larger than the bulb also so the amount of pressure in the cylinders is mupltiplied by the area of the cylinder volume. That is simple hydraulic principle. I have been told the average pressure inside the cavernosa when pump up hard is 15lbs per square inch. 15 lbs x the number of cubic inches volume in the 2 cylinders combined along with tubing will tell you how much pressure you have to overcome squeezing the bulb. I would not be surprised if total pressure is near 100 lbs on a large implant.

I have always found it MUCH MUCH harder to pump if I start from a partly inflated implant. If I start from empty it is much easier. If I start and stop, start again, it is also MUCH MUCH harder to pump. Sometimes it is easier to deflate all the way and start again from scratch than to try to resume pumping. Easiest time to pump when I first wake up in morning when bed and the junk are still warm under the covers or after an hour of my laptop sitting on my lap. Everything is warm down there and had a chance to warm deep. Just getting in a hot tub balls cold does not work as efficient unless you soak an hour. I think the plastics need warmed deep into your tissue sufficiently for that to work and few soak that long. Water will turn cold before that point for me.

Well guys, The spoon didn't work. But I got inflated last night after much trying. It is harder to do because I can't get as good a feel or grasp on the pump just yet. I think the more I heal from the extensive cutting in there, it will be easier to deal with. I can deflate, but even that, the button is not as clearly defined as before. Again, more healing to come. According to Dr. Knoll a couple months. I think I may also have a skewed view of what it should look like after inflation. I'm going to put some pics and comments below that apply to this.
