Discomfort of pump in scrotum?

Postby PhilipS » Mon Sep 26, 2011 3:36 pm

I am contemplating an implant (have used VED now for 3 years), but am wondering if the feeling of having the pump in between your balls is going to be uncomfortable or annoying, especially when your scrotum is shriveled and your balls are up tight against your body. Also, would it be uncomfortable when riding a bicycle? - this is my major form of exercise. One other question: does the reservoir in your abdomen push on your bladder, or otherwise feel uncomfortable?

Everyone's experience on this is different, but here's mine thusfar...
I was very aware of the pump and while it wasn't painful, it was uncomfortable at first. I had to be careful sitting down.
But now, I'm just 4 weeks post-op as of tomorrow, and I'm feeling quite normal down there. Things seem to have adjusted themselves well. Obviously, if I feel my scrotum, I can tell where the pump is, but otherwise -- walking, sitting, jogging on the treadmill -- I'm not aware of it.

With that said, riding a bike might be a greater challenge. I think that I read somewhere that some guys switch to split seats post op.

Well, I'm 8 months post op and the IPP pump is comfortable and hardly noticable to me and this is with two pumps in my scrotum, I have an AUS also. That is the way it feels but my scrotum does not look normal with the big IPP pump hanging down, but thats' not a big deal to me. However, all that said, you might find my recent post on this subject enlightening. Also note that no one replied which mat mean that my experience is not the usual

Or maybe I should say where are they? That is a bit of hyperbole as I still "seem" to have them but.... ...? Here is what I am talking about, last nov-dec as my upcoming implants, IPP and AUS were being discussed, a big concern of mine was, will all the pumps and tubing fit in there with my balls. Since then I have comented to others on this broad to not worry, mine ended up fitting just fine. Thinking back to post surgery I remenber not wanting to feel around to try and find them as I thought they were hiding up somewhere and as long as they didn't hurt much, just leave them alone as I had had enought soreness in that area to not be too curious. Well now I have decided to find them and think I have but they are in a much different state. Before they were firm and large grape size now they are poorly defined shapewise and soft and mushy. Hmmm, do I need new plastic ones implanted? Actually, I think I'll just leave them alone but I am wondering if anybody else had this happen? I don't know excatly when this happened but it was definately post implant. Could the IPP and AUS pump constantly bumping into them made them that way? Or is that why the doc said not to worry, while he was thinking, ha ha you aint gonna have any left?

So , YES the pump (or pumps in my case) did end up fitting and being comfortable partners to my balls, but the way it ened up was unexpected, at least by me. I haven't noticed any ill effects other than high toned voice, large breasts and I wear womens underware now. You could ride a bike but wear a skirt.
Back to the serious side, no the reseviour is not uncomfortable or even felt, the pump could be a problem on a bike if you are not carefull and yes all that will fit but maybe not the way you think, or at least that's my experince. The real good news is these thing are amazing.

Phil

I'm approximately 5 weeks post LGX. I have been on testosterone replacement therapy for 10 years so my testes have stunk from walnuts to glorified raisins!
The pump "is" the largest occupant of my scrotum and I don't feel it with normal activities or sitting. If I didn't touch it I wouldn't know it's there. Same goes with the reservoir. I do feel the tubes! During this phase of recovery having a "semi" is normal.
