More freeze or refrigerate

Postby phz1950 » Sun Mar 05, 2017 9:24 am

Well this may sound like a repeat but hear it is.
I've got 2 vials of 2.5 ml Trimix on Feb. 20. I have shot 2 times since (14 days) first 10 units then 17 units (average 14). At the current rate I'll use 1 vial in 30 weeks! (wife has copd so the frequency is sometimes not in our control)
finally: how long will the second vial last if I freeze it now. I'd ask the Pharmacy but I suspect their answer may be skewed.
thanks

I used some one time that was almost 2 years old. As with frozen peptides, I pre fill syringes and put them in a freezer ziploc if I was going to have more than I could use in a short while. That way I only needed to thaw what I needed to use. A 1cc insulin syringe will thaw in the palm of your hand in a minute, sometimes less.

That's good to know. I never thought of freezing filled syringes.
When I figure out how much of my new Quad-mix is optimum, I'll fill a bunch and freeze.

The shelf life on these things is several times longer frozen than refrigerated. Depends on the component mix but some have a "stated" shelf life as little at 10 days to a month and a month to 3 months frozen. It has years since I studied these meds but only 1 component tends to break down, the others are stable a lot longer period of time. In reality they keep longer than the stated dates. Hope this helps. I am hoping you can find low impact ways to use this without aggravating your wife's COPD or better ways to manage it. COPD sucks. Best of luck to you both.

thanks for the tips. Do you think that there may be any other couples dealing with copd and ed? How's the best way to ask?

I do not know if there are or not. Just ask. We talk about dicks here. Certainly COPD is less stigmatized than something that would be considered of a sexual nature! A friend's wife has COPD. I remember discussing with him last year some new meds and new devices that have helped her a lot. best of luck to you both. d

I just finished using a bunch of pre-filled syringes which had been kept in freezer since 2015 October and I have not noticed any decrease in effectiveness.

This is sure good to know as I have been wondering how long frozen syringes could last. Thanks for passing it along!
