DC powered medication cooler for Bimix

Postby Reggieman » Tue Mar 28, 2017 9:41 pm

I'm going on an extended driving trip and am concerned about keeping my Bimix cold while traveling. I don't want to rely on hotel/motel fridges to chill an ice pack overnight. Does anyone have a recommendation for a DC powered device for refrigerating drugs while traveling? I see some on Google but most have very large capacities, i.e. 18 quarts. I want something smaller that I can just plug into my car electrical system.

If your Bimix doesn't have PGE-1-Alprostadil (which most don't have), you don't require refrigeration.

My UCSF Uro told me to refrigerate it to make it last longer. It has lasted me since November last without deteriorating. I keep the active bottle in the fridge and the second bottle in the freezer.

The bottle stated that it would only last 30-45 days. It says nothing about refrigerating. It has lasted for months since I keep the bottle I am currently using in the fridge.

I bought one of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-Ne ... 4.8.hCOrcJ . Although designed for insulin it is ideal for either filled syringes or small vial. Runs on internal lion battery or car adapter or 100/240 volt both of which recharge the battery. Temperature you want can be set and shows temperature achieved. Only noise is small fan which helps cooling. Small, convenient and effective. Not sure if link above will work but go to aliexpress.com and search for "insulin cooler". There are several different models available at about $100-120.
80 year old Type2 diabetic, long term ED, pills then injections PGE1. After 4 years they became less effective. Implanted 20/3/2018 by NHS. AMS 700 CX 15+4 cm with MS pump. Never had any significant pain. Still working perfectly and used regularly.

looks nice but pricey. If physical size is a factor, the smaller one is great.

I ordered the small battery powered chiller from Aliexpress for like $95. I'll let you know how it works.
All the best.
