Coloplast Titan OTR Penile Implant

Postby bob1138 » Sun Oct 09, 2011 7:25 pm

Hi Guys,

I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65.
Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, etc. did not work for me.
I had the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure done in December 2007.
The Titan Implant restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife.
In the last several years I have spoken with many ED patients as a Patient Educator for Coloplast.
I have received a number of phone calls from couples thanking me for helping them make the decision to move forward with the Titan Implant and telling me what a positive impact it had on their lives.
Would like to share experiences with other guys in the FT Group.

Bob

Bob, Thanks for the positive feedback. I had my Titan OTR implanted on 9/19/11. It was not an easy decision both, physically, emotionally and financially. In my case the jury is still out. I have yet to see the benefits only the discomfort and cost. I hope in a year or so I feel the way you do. :D
Age 60, married, PSA 12.4 PCa 3/07, RRP 5/07, no extension, nerves spared, subsequent PSAs<.01, continent 10/10, ED continued with no effect from pills or injections, implanted 9/19/11 Coloplast Titan OTR.

Benefits? You are not even a month post op...You will see the benefits by week 10-11ish when you start inflating/deflating.

I am 64 and had a radical prostatectomy about 15 months ago. The only way I have been able to have an erection is with injections (which had complications). Four days ago, I had a Titan OTR penile implant. I will be glad to document my progress if anyone is interested. I would like to ask if it is difficult to squeeze the bulb and to operate the valve. It seems like it would be painful, but that whole area is sore right now.

Wirewister,

Just be patient and let the normal healing process occur as your body tissue grows around the components of your Titan
Penile Implant. Be sure to follow your URO's instructions.
I underwent the Titan Penile Implant Procedure 4+ years ago and, thankfully, it completely corrected my ED which I developed Post ORP.

Best of luck,

Bob

Wiretwister --

I second the advice of bob1138, to let it heal and follow docs instructions. My instructions were to leave everything alone for 6 weeks. I know some docs start inflating/deflating earlier. I had an easy recovery, and was anxious to play around with it, and did so a little bit before the 6 weeks. The pump at first seemed very hard to operate, though very quickly it became fairly easy... though the first squeeze even now, almost 5 months later is harder than I would have thought. But, I'm used to it, and one handed is easily enough.

The tenderness will go away, and especially as you use it and your body toughens up, it will not be painful at all to squeeze the pump or the deflate button, or I should say, that has been my experience. However, what I call "pumping to the max" was quite painful at first in the glans, and at the proximal tip deep inside me. That has gone away, though even now, at the max the shaft still aches after a while from the pressure. BTW, pumping to the max is hardly necessary for use, but I think has some therapeutic benefits for a while, to prevent scar tissue from forming and to help break up scar tissue and to stretch tissue that was not used much for a long time.

If you decide to play around with it, be sure you are very confident in squeezing the deflate button. I practiced that for quite a while during recovery. When I first pumped it up, it was painful enough that I wanted to hit the deflate button right away. I was glad I knew how to do it.

Bob...and the rest of you...I am scheduled to have my implant surgery on Monday,August 6th. so I want all of you to tell me that it's a really easy and quick recovery ( just kidding ).....I know it's going to be uncomfortable for a few weeks, and I am prepared for that, but I think that the results will be worth all the effort and pain and recovery time that it might take. I just think that the "reunion" that I will be having with my lovely wife will make everything OK.
