First, hello to all of you and thank you all for your postings, it has helped my wife and I out alot with my decision making. My name is Craig and I am 50 years old. I have been sitting here on the sidelines reading many of your posts and getting the nerve to go through with the surgery. I think I am much more informed with what I am about to do.Well, I have been dealing with ED for almost 15 years, started with Viagra, Edex, Bi-mix then tri-mix. As of November 21 2011 I will be having an AMS 700LGX implanted and no more of
those temporary remedies any more. I will be going to have the procedure done by Dr. Culley Carson at UNC.

Welcome Craig,
The guys on FT have provided so much information for all of us. Tomorrow will be day 7 post-op for me and I hope your surgeon is as good as mine was. I have had some discomfort but nothing I would call pain. I only had to take 3 pain pills (2 on the day of surgery and one pill cut in ½ the day after, and that's with a 5 hour drive home). Swelling and bruising are down by about 65% and feeling better each day. I hope you and everyone who is looking forward to having implants have as uneventful first week as I have had.

Thank you both for your support, and yes, I do have a question to have answered.
How many times will I have to cycle the pump for it to be fully inflated?
And what do you all mean “When the device will be activated.”? What does the term activated mean...? My unit will be switched on. Like, I will not be able to use it till I see the doctor and he does something to turn it on?
I am gifted with some girth, and I was told I would not lose that part of it but, the head of my penis I was told by the dotor is that it will not become hard anymore after surgery. Have any of you been told this too?

Was told that today I would find out what portion of this operation the insurance company would pay for if,any and what my co-pay will be. I never did get the call from the dotor`s office. I will give it till Friday and then I will follow up.

Woohoo! Hard times ahead for Craig!
Born 1948, wed 1969. BPH & Type II Diabetes at age 35. TURP-2002; ED even before that--diabetes. Cardiac valve surgery: 2007 & 2019. Poor results with pills. Started trimix injections in Nov, 2010. Great results from the very beginning.

On a scale from one to ten, ten being the worse, were would you have rate your pain at on the first, second, and third day?
0-1 No pain
2-3 Mild pain
4-5 Discomforting - moderate pain
6-7 Distressing - severe pain
8-9 Intense - very severe pain
10 Unbearable pain
Were you left partially inflated after surgery?

0-2 for me...just a slight ache that Advil took care of no problem. I did not have any swelling or bruising at all. Now 4 weeks post- op still take Advil on occasion for slight ache in tip area but pretty easy recovery for me so far...

Activation is basically being pumped up by the doc or his assistant and being given the go ahead to use it. No switch, no magic, just and OK.
Number of times to cycle? I think you mean how many pumps to get hard? Depends on the size of your penis. You'll make a nice show with just a few pumps. In my case, I usually end up pumping about 18 to 20 times to get a good stiff one.
Girth - expect to stay the same or gain. I actually measure about 1/4" less, but it is wide (oval) now, so it looks bigger, and with the extra firmness, my wife tells me it is definitely bigger. Soft head? Yes, most likely. But, in my case the 3rd chamber which includes the head will start to fill when I get really turned on, so my penis head gets hard the my penis gets more round (even thicker). I was worried about the soft head, my wife says it hasn't been a problem with her, and it's coming back!
