Other support forums

Postby Flannigan » Wed Aug 02, 2017 11:31 pm

Fellow brothers...do any of you know of some other good support sites out there for men suffering from ED ? I find that this is a good site and there are lots of good dudes here but I have been suffering from ED for about 7 years now. It came on right after my divorce after being married for 22 years. And to make matters worse I contracted the herpes virus 1 & 2 from someone I met (not sure who). Now I am left feeling like a shell of a man and battling ED along with the stigma of having herpes. My self esteem and confidence have taken a major blow. My girlfriend also has the virus and we are not sure which one gave it to the other since neither one of us knew we had it prior to both of us having out first breakout so there are some feelings of resentment there. My relationship with her is ok but the ED thing is wearing on both of us. If things don't work out with her then I am afraid I may never find another women and I doubt I will ever get laid again. I am still too young to throw in the towel. I have been feeling very depressed about my situation and I am looking for some support. Any ideas ?
Much appreciated

Flannigan,
Your post brought to light a point that we have been trying to keep clear for a long time. Franktalk is NOT an implant web site. It is for men with ED - from whatever cause. The implant guys tend to need the most support and are the most nervous and so implant discussions tend to take over.
But I started FrankTalk for ED after PCa surgery. For a long time, guys thought this was a PCa site!
I'm going to start doing some housekeeping and start the move threads about implants to the implant section. That might give other guys a bit more breathing room to be heard.
Thanks for the post.

And no...I don't know of any other ED forums - that's why I started this one.

Maybe the reason for the support requirements of us implant guys is because implant is forever. All the other treatments you can just stop doing.

I wonder if, when people become members, if they chose between Implant or Alternate, and then you can read everything, but only post in your membership area. That may stop some of the bickering too. I don't know, maybe that's dumb idea, just throwing it out there. :)

About 4 ~ 5 years ago there were a couple of other ED sites, but they soon got to be trash dumps and got left by the wayside. I can't even remember the names now.

By far, franktalk is the most complete and informative web site for discussing ED. Thunders place and PEGym Are primarily penis enhancement sites; however, both have sub forums for discussing ED issues.

Although the implant is a forever decision, the decision to use other methods is also a forever situation in that you have to restrict yourself to an artificial means of generating and maintaining an erection; however, you can still alternate between methods.

I do not see where implant discussions intrude upon the other methods, although some guys consider pumping up an implant as a type of pumping (VED) which it is not.

I don't think it intrudes either but apparently others do.

I do appreciate the responses brothers although not a whole lot of help. I understand that FT seems to be focused around guys with implants but I do not feel that it takes over the site. I think it has just become the main place to go for good intel on implants. I'm not bothered by it. I am just looking for some good support and info for straight up ED problems and now my herpes issue. There is some decent discussion boards on here about ED and other methods of treatment but I was just curious if anyone knew of any others. I am not out to destroy this site and loose readers and I find that this is a very good site. I'm just looking for some answers and support.

I have thought about an implant but the Trimix is working well for me and my Uro said don't even think about it at this point since it's something I can never go back from. Right now he is trying to dial in my T level and Estradial level and hopes that my ED might get better. It's not that bad and I can still get plenty hard enough to masturbate and can sometimes do my girlfriend in the morning without anything but it's rare. I know some of it is in my head now too especially now with the herpes diagnosis. The whole thing has just got me really bummed out lately and I am looking for some good support groups. It sucks going through life feeling as if you have no reason for being here and no joy.

Thanks

The problem with limiting the implant people to posting in implants only and not in other areas is that very often the newer implant people have significant experience with other treatments and have come to the implant at the end of a long road. To force this to contribute for implants only would be to waste their knowledge and experience.

For example I have 12 years experience with injections before they quit working. Only 4.5 with an implant and that needs work. I haven't forgotten all about the injections; like you can push the little short needle too deep and put a needle hole in your urethra. For me, no permanent damage just some hydrolyzed blood in my urine at a check up.

All of us with ED are on a journey, it is just that the ones that have taken the implant road can't change highways; there are no off ramps.
