I did a search, but didn't find any reviews on this for BPH.
I saw some literature at the uro today, and wonder if it's a viable solution when my BPH gets worse.
Anyone have the procedure?

Re: UroLift
I am having tests done in one week to see if I qualify for this procedure, which my urologist suggests. The tests include a transrectal ultrasound, a urine voiding test, and a cystoscopy. Everything I have read makes urolift sound like a viable solution to urinary issues, but I will have to see if my insurance covers it.

Re: UroLift
I received Urolift (six clips) in Jan of 2017. So far, everything has been great. I had suffered BPH for thirty years. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Got mine done at the same time as I was healing from an implant. Done through Dr. Allen Morey at UTSW in Dallas.
Implanted Dec 2016 by Dr. Morey, UTSW Dallas. AMS 700. BPH caused problems so Supra Pubic Catheter and Urolift Prostate implants. End results great. Botched implant by Dr. in Waco, TX 2006. After 10 years, went to Dr. Morey who made me whole.
Re: UroLift
Well, I had my preliminary tests. First the voiding of a full bladder while the computer records the volume and duration of the event, then an ultrasound of the bladder empty. Next, a TRUS or trans rectal ultrasound of my prostate. Finally, a flexible cystoscope up my penis until the urologist could examine the bladder from inside. The doctor said I was a candidate for either a TURP, a urolift, or a heating process inside the prostate. I elected to go with the urolift and we will see now what my insurance company says.

Re: UroLift
graymare, thanks for keeping us updated on this subject. I'm just wondering which is the best option for the slow peeing.
My wife asks me what takes so long during the night.
Maybe we need to hear from people who have had the TURP procedure also?

Re: UroLift
I had the TURP done back in Indiana 2013. My problem was things would be fine sitting but upon standing sometimes I couldn't get to a restroom quick enough. After peeing myself in public my uro did this procedure. He described it like slicing up an apple to my prostrate and should give me relief for few years. Outpatient surgery just had to take things easy for couple weeks. It worked well for me up until this year nothing worse than getting out of a vehicle and having to pee so bad one can't hold it.

Re: UroLift
This is hard for me to tell you, but I ran out of Tamsulosin (Flomax) awhile back.
It' amazing how much that has helped me, but when I ran out, things didn't go well.
To get the stream going, I accidentally shit myself several times. Not a large shit, but not fun.
I take iron supplements and that really made the problem worse, color wise.

Re: UroLift
Sorry tomas1 I was recently on flowmax and started to leak urine at night, wake up with my shorts wet. Can't say for sure but he took me off and problem stopped. I did seem to pee easier while on it. This and ED have me in a funk

Re: UroLift
I can guarantee that if I didn't or couldn't take Flomax, I'd have to have a procedure to expand the urethra through the prostate. Luckily, I've not experienced the leakage problem.
