It would be great to have the female perspective of our discussions. How ca n we promote that.
I think women are the only ones that can give us men certain feedback on some our discussions.

Agree completely. But they are so different. I can't imagine a universe where my wife would post anything here about our dealing with ED, my decision to get an implant (she wanted nothing to do with the decision), or the sex we will be having in another month or so. I can't even imagine her reading other women's posts, although I think that would be helpful. I also think we guys could learn things we didn't even know needed learning.
Don't know how to get it to happen.

On another forum that talked mostly about intimacy after PC there were about a 1/3 of the poster that were women. Most of them had men that had given up on sex because of the resulting ED after prostatectomy. The men would not even get on the forum, but the wives were looking for help because they were frustrated because of the men not trying to get their sexual function back. The subjects were similar ....pills, pumps, injection and implants, etc.
The women gave valuable insight.
My wife would never get on the forum, but I would read or tell her some of the posts.

As I recall, one of Paul's founding principles in setting up FrankTalk was that it is for men only, and female participation is not welcome. I don't know if there's been any change in that position.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.

My opinion, for what it's worth, although I can see the benefit of having women on here, the men on this forum speak of very intimate, private issues. Anywhere else they would be humiliated of the info got out. Pictures are shared as well as other private info. Men share some info on here because they know that everyone also shares the same problems. I think there would be a whole lot less participation in the threads. For that reason, I would be opposed to women being allowed membership on Frank Talk, sorry.

I don't agree Larry. First off I'll say I'm not sure I'd want my wife on here although there's nothing to stop any non-member from viewing all but one sub-forum. Knowing wife was viewing my posts would influence what I post. It wouldn't influence my being an ass on occasion because she's long been aware of that trait. It probably would affect some other posts. That said, I'd love to hear the perspective of other wives or significant others. Maybe I'll go back and edit my posts as needed and then invite the wife on. This would probably be the place for one of those smilies.....but I don't do smilies.

Re: It would be helpful to have more women on this forum
We are in the process of creating a franktalk site for partners, but keeping Franktalk.org for men only. Yes, it affects both men and women, but there are already a few boards (such as webMD) which have generally been taken over by women - and yes, the vast majority are complaints that their men have given up.
Franktalk is for men and is a safe place for men because ED is a men's condition. An analogy might be that breast cancer is a woman's issue but affects men as well, but there are breast cancer support boards for women only. One of the first steps for many men is owning the issue and finding a safe, shame-free place where other men are not going to judge them is vital to that first step. Women are going to read FrankTalk, of course - and that is great.
If you want to know a woman's perspective and you have a woman in your life - ASK HER. Learning to communicate about this is important.
The bigger picture is that FrankTalk is just one part of a larger picture. It is the support arm of the Erectile Dysfunction Foundation, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit. Support is one facet of our mission statement. Read about it here: http://www.franktalk.org/aboutUs.php
Thanks
Paul

Don't you think that is a little hypocritical... "I want women on here, just not my wife"? I wouldn't want my wife on here either. There are other sites for women/couples, why do they have to be here on a men's only site? As for them being able to read posts over my shoulder, that's unethical. I don't read Lisa's stuff and I don't let Lisa read mine. I respect your opinion, I just don't agree.
Cheers
Larry

The whole point is now moot but no I wasn't hypocritical. I said I would adapt. She can use my little POS computer any time she likes. If she gets curious and want's to look at a forum I've been on it's no big deal. She knows all men are perverts to at least some degree. She is very aware I'm capable of being rude, crude and socially unacceptable and have a limited tolerance for BS.
