10 days post surgery - pump question

Postby Techman52 » Fri Dec 02, 2011 6:50 pm

Gentlemen:
I am now 10 days post op and everything seems to be going smooth. My concern is about the pump:
Should it be pretty much 'free floating in the scrotum?
The skin of the scrotum has pretty much thinned out other than that adjacent to the pump. The pump doesn't move about freely and it stings when I pull down on it.

What should I be expecting at this point in time?
Could what I am experiencing now be adhesions? The right testicle is free moving and is now located behind the pump.

Open to ALL input! My next appt @ 2 weeks is mid Dec.

Thanks
Larry

I don't know how much free floating it should be but mine is movable, easily, but I don't think I can sugnificantly change it's location. I understand that the pump should become more or less anchored at somepoint and I think mine has done that. All this healing and things finding themselves a spot to stay in takes time.

I am now 16 days post op. The pump has pretty much stayed in the same place. Behind the testicles and about an inch from the top of the scrotum. I asked the surgeon if i should pull down on the pump and he said no that it is where it should be. I would think it is somewhat limited by how much it can move because of the tubes that are attached to it. It is a little sore when I hold it by the top when i pump it. At first I thought it was going to be difficult to use, but since I was at the doctors 3 days ago i have pumped it up several times and it has gotten a lot easier.Good luck on your new equipment.

I had a lot of the sticking you describe. My pump was completely surrounded by tissue, I had quite a time pulling it free, literally. The stinging is the pump being seperated from the tissue. Mine still hangs near one testicle, but the area around in with that exception is pretty open, I can feel the pump on all sides except one.

You don't want normal motions to be painful, and you want to be able to access the pump. I kept pulling at mine until I achieved those results, with my doctor's blessing.

After surgery you need to pull the pump down or it will ride up into the scrotum and scar tissue will make it difficult to access Right now, like me, I'm still pulling it down...so basically it will sit itself in the base of the scrotum. For now it does move but if you are pulling it the pump should be easy to find always if you approach the scrotum from the bottom. It aggravates me that it is still floating around a bit, not the pump but the deflation device, which is attached directly above the pump. MAfter time I am told tissue will encase all the parts and it will all feel pretty natural.

I'm going to call Vanderbilt and speak with my doctor's staff about the pump incapsulation. It now seems to be fully encased in a fluid fill sack. It is located on the right side and in front of my right testicle. Both 'boys' are free floating and only the pump is an issue. I just hope things will work out on their own, but what ever it takes -- it takes.

Thanks for checking...and let us know. There is so much information we are not told both pre-op and post-op that I'd like to get their opinion....thanks!
