I don't know about the salt water, Mike, but I think the bikinis will give you plenty of motivation to get healed as soon as possible!

Hello gents from the guy who used to be "woodless". That name no longer applies so I had to change it to something else. So I chose something simple but symbolic of a new beginning and a return to normalcy.

It's been 2 full days since my surgery on the 15th. Other than my doc finding a hernia I didn't know I had everything has pretty much gone according to plan. Since the surgery was not done through the scrotum but through abdomen, just above the penis, there has been minimal swelling or bruising. I've taken my pain meds a couple of times and have applied ice quite a bit which I think has helped. Every time I urinate I pull down on the pump to make sure it is seated properly, and permanently, at the bottom of the scrotum between my nuts. I've been doing alot of walking and because I went under general anesthesia breathing excercises as well. I live in Florida and coming to California to have the surgery has presented some challenges but with the help of my son who lives out here everything has worked out well so far. I will be seeing the doctor on Monday the 21 and assuming there are no unresolved issues will fly back home Tuesday morning. At the doctors visit he will cycle the device completely and go through it's paces with me. If there are no problems in the future there will be no need to return again. There are no follow-up visits planned or required.

I will post periodic updates to let you guys how I'm doing. I hope they will be as helpful to those of you thinking about having the surgery performed as the posts from other members were for me.

Good for you, Ed. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Have a good weekend and a safe trip home. Hard (and glorious!) times are ahead!

Ed --

Thanks for the encouraging report! If your son hadn't been there, and if you had made the trip alone, do you think it would have worked? What assistance would you have needed? Will you do any followup with a local uro when you get back?

Thanks.

I think salt water helps heal the wounds and no better way than take a dip in the warm waters of Ft. Lauderdale, and that is exactly what I will be doing. With all the pain killers, I am going to take, I won't feel any pain! lol

Just happy to hear that Dr karpman delivered and that is what is important. The doc and patient relationship. Good Going, Ed :D

It's been a while since I've been on here to report on my post surgical progress, it's been truly a mixed bag so far. The surgery was performed just over 3 weeks ago and I've healed very nicely. Other than some significant discoloration and swelling that began in day 3 but quickly resolved itself I've experienced no pain or discomfort due to the surgery itself.
I've done so well that my doctor has even given me the go ahead to start doing the big nasty. Now for the other side of the mixed bag. Unfortunately it seems like I may have a defective deflation valve. I can deflate the implant(s) but they quickly re-inflate. I am unable to keep the soldier at parade rest. Complicating the issue is the implant itself (AMS CX) which is made of very rigid material. The rigidity is a good thing because when erect the darn thing feels like a 2x4. But the pump is also made of the same very rigid material making it very difficult to squeeze without significant discomfort. I've desensitized myself enough that sensitivity to the squeezing is no longer an issue but the repetitive squeezing of the scrotum over the last 3 weeks has caused a pocket of fluid to form inside the scrotum. The pocket is large enough to feel like a 3rd testicle. Luckily I seem to have a roomy ball sack because I'm having to accomadate the equivalent of three testicles plus the pump. The prevailing theory is that the fluid accumulation may be causing the autoinflation but the most likely explanation is a faulty defaltion valve. I have been told to wait another month to see if the issue resolves itself and if it doesn't I will have no choice but to fly back out to California to have the pump and valve replaced. I do believe I will most likely have to go under the knife again. In the intervening month I will have full use of it so at least that's something.

For those of you who are still contemplating getting an implant don't let my experience deter you. I understand that auto-inflation caused by a faulty pump is very uncommon and I guess I just happened to be the guy who hit the rare jackpot. I am very happy that I decided to go for it obstacles not withstanding. Even though I haven't used it with my wife yet it has totally changed my outlook on things. You hate to think that our lives as men could be so defined by what's between our legs but that's how most of us see ourselves. It's good to feel complete again.

Best wishes Ed.
I'm at week 2 of my AMS implant so I am just getting a good start on the journey. My "issue" is with the pump, but in my case it is adhesion to the scrotum and also a fluid build-up. The rest of the package is all well -- incision is completely healed and the implant tubing is comfortable. One step at a time.
