My question is for those who have passed the surgery already.
Did your doctor make any note of your pre-op size - flassid & erected?
Did you know the cylinder size before the surgery; or it is known only after the scalpel cuts the tissue?
Does doctor do some sort of "stretching test" to determine the cylinder length?
What concerns me is that there are cases when experiences surgeons insert cylinders that are definitely way too short... I do not understand why this happens. There must be some well-defined procedure to determine the correct size. I cannot believe a doc uses just "whatever is on the shelf"...
I am scared to death about wrong size... I am one of those who has very small dick in flaccid state while almost doubled when erected. So if the surgeon is to insert the cylinder measured against flaccid penis I am afraid I'll end up with a "little bump" instead of a workable dick...
How the cylinder size is measured
Re: How the cylinder size is measured
Danny, my surgeon did not discuss implant size with me. I understand that there are at least two methods: surgeon pulls on your flaccid penis and judges the size of the implant. At least I have heard that this method is used to give the patient some idea of the new erect size with implant inlated. The second method is just before surgery. I understand that there are choices of instruments and the MD chooses, perhaps with the AMS, etc. rep there. Again the pulled out penis may be the method. My MD was rather evasive about this, but me implant seems a good fit, surgeon even pointing out the desirable position of the ends of the implant in the glans on follow up visits. Best wishes;
Re: How the cylinder size is measured
He stretch tested mine at 7 1/4" but I ended up with 5 1/2" now (four months later). But it is the loss of width and the loss of sensitivity that bothers me most.....
Re: How the cylinder size is measured
Thank you, ariadne & dmikesaw.
Dmikesaw, did your doc ever give an explanation of 2" loss? There must be some reason why there was such a massive shortage?
Was there something he discovered when cut the tissue, that made him put shorter than expected cylinders?
I am afraid I will not have an opportunity to discuss with my doc the expected cylinder length due to the "side-effect" of a public healthcare system operating on the principle - take it or leave it...

Some very happily implanted guys out there. One reason why..
I had a doc who really sensed how important this operation was to me. Just before going into the OR, he came to me and said "I'm going to give you your wish". By that, he explained that he'd give me the maximum sized LGX possible for my penis size. He explained that he fills the penis with saline solution at the operating table and then goes on from there with the rest of the implant. At that point, the penis is measured and it is determined which LGX shall fit. I was lucky and got 21cm with 3cm extenders. (Note: 1 Inch = 2.54 cm) Those extenders hurt like the dickens for the first 6 months and felt as though they were nailed into somewhere. Now at 12 months, I'm happy for it all and it's all quite a success. Just wanted to add this so that everyone would know that I am NOT a representative of either penile implant company nor any affiliate therof. Just a happy camper here guys. At some point, my mind just said "do it" No looking back, no regrets.

Re: How the cylinder size is measured
Thank you LGX_Man
I wish my doctor would say me so but most likely (based on the history of visits so far) that is going to be like:
- What cylinder size are you going to put?
- We'll see when you are on the table.
- What type of AMS implant you'll put
- I'll see what fits better.
Then 30 sec later the doc would be gone...
LGX_Man, if you think back in time before the implant and not yet knowing how the result would be, would you still consider the implant if your "member" were still pretending to be alive? I mean what if that worked... but like 20 years old Ford sedan - that coughs, barfs, hicks-up, may not start up at all, or just shut down in the middle of the road. Would you trade that barely alive piece of junk for something totally unknown that might result in no car at all?

I see you have over 130 posts so you may have answered the following questions at other places. First off, who was your doctor who understood so completely and admirably the fact that if we men are going to have this done, we sure want to be enhanced sizewise and not diminished sizewise.
Further, what was your pre implant size bone pressed in length?
What was your pre implant size girth wise?
After the surgery, what is your length bone pressed at max pump up.
After the surgery, what is your girth at max pump up.
I know some will poo poo all these size questions, but the proof of your success is in your post on how you feel about your unit when looking at that picture yourself.
We on this board have suffered through Genome and others progress on the issue of post implant size and post implant malfunctions. It is a real issue for us men to consider if we are going to have this surgery done.
Thanks for you answers and congratulations to you on your doctor and the success of the implant operation.
